  • President's Cup Australia 2019 - Captain Tiger's 4 at-large picks?

Na, Reed, Fowler and Finau
EDIT: Maybe switch Woodland for Fowler

I'm thinking Patrick Reed isn't exactly the best team player with his history of calling out Captains' decisions in past International Team competitions so I'd scratch him for this one (and I like his firey attitude), Ricky Fowler just got married so he may prefer to spend this trip prone in bed, and if blue pills were involved, what would that do to a random drug screen's results? Webb Simpson is already on the team so there may not be the need for another father figure so that may eliminate one of the benefits of taking Lefty. South Korea is a relatively short flight to Australia so would Kevin Na's psycho ex-fiance and her family show up and create an international scene?

Gary Woodland's tie for 3rd at the CJ Cup last weekend, won by Justin Thomas with Danny Lee runner-up, surely caught Tiger's attention. And Woodland teamed with Kuchar a few years ago to win the World Cup. Woodland also finished 10th in the President Cup qualifying so he's not a total outlier. I really like Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth too. That leaves room on my ballot for Tiger!

Not Phil and I think Tiger needs to sit it out as well.

mikeintopeka Tony Finau, Patrick Reed, Gary Woodland, Kevin Na.

My picks if they are serious about winning.

I agree with the picks but and they should and better win regardless. Its why Ego Woods could pick himself and not worry about losing

Hopefully Geoff Ogilvy does no more commentary!

Then pick himself, Fowler, Morikawa and Wolfe for fan interest
      😉

Tiger is going to try to impress his teammates, himself, and the armchair Captains among us, by teeing it up in Japan this week.

Others on the bubble in this week's field include Woodland, Finau, Reed, Na,and Spieth. Kevin Kisner is also now being mentioned as a possibility and he' also playing in Japan.

Well, this could be a game changer. Brooks may not be a 'go'.

"Brooks Koepka re-injured his left knee during the second round of last week’s CJ Cup and he ended up withdrawing from the event. “We’re just waiting to see what the surgeons say and see what his protocols will be going forward. That’s something he’ll keep me abreast of going forward,” Woods said."

Doing a damn good job of it too!! -6 and has the lead, after starting off with 3 straight bogeys.

          Technical correction: Editor 😉

Par4QC mikeintopeka 🤣 I'm like the guy that posts the scores on TV, during the round.
Tiger has the lead. Woodland is tied with him.

That's some amazing work there, Kreskin! HaHa

Par4QC mikeintopeka lol, they did it again this .am.. Woodland was finished, & when Tiger tied him, Tiger went to the top!

Easy answer. They hired GuitarPlayer to run their graphics board. That's why he isn't posting here anymore as he's caught up in the daily pep rallies. 😂

mikeintopeka OMG, forgot about that guy! Prolly done himself in when TW was on the shelf for a year.

Woodland, playing with Tiger, and shitting the bed on every short(ish) putt, does not bode well for him. But, I'm betting Tiger takes him along.

Picks should be made off recent form; past achievements mean nothing, jmo.

Finau, ?? Brooks may be out, so Tony may be in automatically. Brooks needs to speak up this week!
Fowler, no. His dick should be draggin'.
                Reed, no.
                Spieth, NO!!
Michelson says he doesn't deserve it. He will get picked.
                Na, maybe.

I hope he doesn't just follow the standings, and makes some picks further down the line. Like Horschel, Bradley, or Palmer. At this point, if TW holds off Hideki today, I don't think he will pick himself, unless he gets a lot of pressure from the team in place now.

Don't see any reason why Tiger shouldn't pick himself for The Prez Cup!
As of yesterday in Japan and playing against many of his own team mates and
guys that will be on the Int. team,TW is playing pretty damn good.
I also think it would be cool if Ernie chose himself, and that the two captains HAD
to play each other in the singles match on Sunday....be good for tv anyways.

Plus seeing how the Internationals haven't exactly fared very well in this comp.
let the International captain be able to pick a couple European players to fill out his roster.
Just my thoughts, time to go play a little golf!

Par4QC I hope he doesn't just follow the standings, and makes some picks further down the line

IMO, if he takes that route, then pick the 2 college kids as a dress rehearsal for the Ryder Cup.
Tiger sits it out as well. He sucks at the Ryder anyway.
This event is like a training ground for the Ryder and they may as well use it as such.
Forget the wannabes like Palmer, Horschel et all. Waste of time.

Spuzz then pick the 2 college kids as a dress rehearsal for the Ryder Cup.

I'd go along with that! This Cup is just for fun anyway.
