mikeintopeka News Flash: Patrick Reed acts like a prick. His antics with the hand to ear (I can't hear you) and then mimicking using a shovel to move sand walking off the green was bush league - after he made a putt to go 2 DOWN.

Apparently the crowd hasn't been very kind to Reed and I think it was his way to inject some humor back at the crowd. This whole Reed sand issue has been blown out of proportion and should just be put to bed. The crowd should not boo anyone at an event like this. I can imagine some "over served" USA fans booing someone if it was played in the US but not the internationals.

exactly what I was thinking. If our fans were booing them (on our soil) I’m not supporting that. Even for that prick Sergio if you don’t like him just stay quiet. No need to boo or say shitty things.

I can remember Montgomerie being booed at a event (in the US) and some of our pros said that’s enough.

I watched him do it and he wasn't smiling. If he was smiling or laughing and gave the fans a 'thumbs up' like it's all in fun or it's all good, he may have endeared some to him. I'm sure Patrick Reed doesn't have a Dale Carnegie course completion certificate on his wall. (Ed note: I don't either as most of you have surmised.) 😁 👍️

I think Maybe Reed enjoys playing the bad guy. Obviously a Green jacket gets you certain amount of fame, but he's got a "brand" that stands out now. I mean a movie about a villain, The Joker, was huge this year, so why not be a "bad guy"?

I watched it all live as well and I thought he did it with a bit of a grin. I haven't seen it shown again so maybe the press is letting it go. Here is the clip. I really can't tell by the vid but apparently the crowd was jeering at him to miss the putt. The jeering and the shoveling weren't necessary.

Rickochet I just watched the clip and I think it was done in fun and with humor. They've been out and out booing him, so I think he was justified. I was watching today and when he was introduced and it got quiet some guy yelled something like " don't worry Patrick, in 4 and a half hours you can get a sandwedge"

So, Reed and Simpson haven't sniffed a point in their first two matches. Tiger sends them out together AGAIN this morning and they've been down 3 for a long time and they are on the 9th hole. I wonder what his reasoning was on that gem of a decision.

Surely there is someone else on the team that would play with Patrick? More importantly, why hasn't he sat down yet??

Should have done it earlier, or teamed with an inexperienced guy, instead of taking the best guy as his partner so he wouldn't lose. That's what real Captains do.
Leishman has been doing that. Team guy and all.
