get with the times PGA, marijuana is not performance enhancing, is legal in many progressive countries and jurisdictions and has been proven time and time again that it is safer than alcohol.

            I'm personally not a fan of marijuana, but can certainly understand why some would prefer using it for medicinal purposes over prescription pain medication that can become highly addictive in very short order.

            The legalities of state legalization vs company policies with work, however, seem a bit complicated in nature to me.
            Beyond that, it's none of my business if people partake or not. Just because I don't care for it doesn't mean I think it's worse than a lot of other options people have available.

            But again, I do realize that it's not unreasonable for employers to uphold certain standards regarding employment, despite states that have/are considering legalizing it. Perhaps there's technology available (or will be) that can differentiate between recent use and current use on an hourly basis? Otherwise I personally have nary a clue how that all gets resolved.

                  candukid the issue with thc and alcohol is that thc stays in your system for an extended period of time.....and the cutoff limit is fairly low for testing. It's interesting with owi,s as being in your system does not mean being high....of course one has to be pulled over for impaired driving.....but point.being someone could have quit 3 weeks ago and yet fail a drug test, etc!

                  Criminalizing pot use is stupid. Same.cincept with punishing folks for using (Matt every). I look forward to the day where it's no longer a criminal act to possess and use (personal use). Not suggesting we praise and reward.people for doing so, but the opposite just does not work....and Matty every is a perfect example!

                      As antiquated as the line of thinking is for this rule, it IS a rule and just like others that are in place for golf, players must abide by them.

                      Golf currently follows WADA to get their direction on legal/illegal substances.
                      Perhaps golf, might consider having their own sub set of rules for Tour play and show that they are progressive . for those playing in the Olympic games, they would still need to follow the WADA guidelines

                        I don't know why people have a hard time understanding this.....about everything in life!! If you can't agree to play by them, you simply should not play at all, and if you attempt to play and not follow them, you will be penalized in one way or another, when caught. Simple.

                            i just read this so there has been a softening of WADA rules on marijuana.
                            "WADA loosened the limits for THC in 2013 to 150ng/ml blood. So technically weed is no longer "banned". It does mean that you likely cannot smoke the day of or during competition. Otherwise you would have to be a pretty heavy smoker to reach that limit in the opinion of several experts."
