azgreg the best was his meltdown on the range....that was epic....somehow I think we can all relate to being in a funk with the swing with seemingly no turning it around!

johnnydoom handshake thing? I must've missed it. Dress? I must be out da loop.

ode Meltdown? Damn... I really out da loot.

LBlack14 I dunno if the case with jdoom, but some folks just don't like him because he's different and will just find another reason not to like him despite there being plenty of reason to do like him!

The handshake thing was during an event that he had in the bag and he blew it down the stretch, losing and did a half assed handshake to the winner, and walked off the course quickly. I think it was a Euro event. He took some grief for it, rightfully so as it It was pretty douchey on his part, poor sportsmanship. The BD haters used it as further evidence as to why he's a POS. Google it and you'll see for yourself. In my humble opinion there is not much there and folks should move on from such a minor thing!

ode I do not wish him any ill will and it doesn't bother me to see him win. I don't know him personally and don't know if he's rude, or if he just made a mistake without thinking and feels bad about it.

I am just not a fan of the way he dresses or the way he obsesses over details, and I thought he was very ungracious to a competitor in his group that didn't do anything (AFAIK) to warrant a dismissive acknowledgement. I don't need to have a good reason not to be a fan. Heck, I don't have any real reason to root for any one player over another (I don't gamble and none of them are sharing their success with me), but I often do just due to style or personality differences.

LBlack14 The hat is part of it, and strangely enough, color dependent for me. If the hat was the same color all the time I probably wouldn't even notice it anymore, but it keeps changing colors and that bothers me in some subliminal way.

I like the kid, he’s intense and damn good. I wish he moved quicker, but at least he’s making good shots after taking too long. I go nuts with people that take as long as him only to hit a shank anyway. I like that he’s doing his own thing, his own way and let’s the rest of the world worry about him, not the other way around.

Tinker I can’t handle watching him in tv.

I feel the same about Tiger

              johnnydoom

He just obsesses over the details in a different way. In this day and age age with swing coaches, sports psychologists, publicists, managers, caddies, fitness/physio trainers, launch monitors, swing aides and gizmos. I mean for Christ sakes, Dustin Johnson regularly practices on trackman to dial in his wedges. Here's a guy who's played golf his whole life and he does not know how far he hits his wedges/partials? Is he obsessing over it or is he just smart? There are so many more examples. Go over to golfwrx and see thread after thread of guys with launch monitors numbers, not just for driver, for every club in the bag, less putter. And these guys aren't even pros. I often wonder if some of these guys even play golf on a course. Point being, they all obsess over the details. It would be stupid not to!

I can see where his demeanor on the course at times can turn people off. He's nowhere near the level of a Patrick Reed (aka Table for One). The PGA needs different personalities / characters.

He's certainly riding a peak of late. It'll be interesting to see how long it lasts.

Weirfan I agree. Why is tiger getting hole by hole coverage in 20th place? I think it has a lot to do with the way one approaches the game themselves. I’m more of a Lee Trevino type. Loose, non robotic fast player. After the 3 and a half hour mark I start loosing interest and getting sloppy. I don’t even use range finders, just look for 150 marker, judge distance grab a club and wack it.

Sneakylong I can see where his demeanor on the course at times can turn people off.

That's the one area where he deserves some criticism. Not a fan of the pouting. Jordan Spieth and John Rahm would be leading the whambulence club!

He's an incredible player with a unique approach to the game. It works for him. He is also a physicist/scientist, so I completely understand the obsessing with details (having worked with and around scientists and engineers for decades). He's one of a kind and I am enjoying watching his career. The meltdown was epic - I think he might have cried. Love the whole package!

Doesn’t seem to be the Palmer, Chi Chi, Travino, Couples personalities out there today.

pellmell I’ll take that action, I say he’s still on the tour in 15 years, barring injury. I’d put $20 + compounding interest at the rate of American inflation until year 2034. Deal?

DC300 that sounds like my buddies and I after we get a few beers in us and start talking sports and the bets start to fly. We had some fun ones this year. The last go around was the bears being 1 and done in the playoffs and who would be the AFC championship, picked before the playoffs started. I won them both and two 6 packs of my choice!
