Scott, I have not hit it yet. I shafted it with an Aerotech Volant VT600 R, which I profiled and found is not as soft a tip as I was wanting. It was an experiment with a premium lightweight shaft. With 0" tipping, at 39 inches it came out a 4.9 PCS flex. I'm betting I'll want a different shaft for best results. I also figure I'll end up at 38.5 inches. That was the original plan, but it's easy to try it at 39 first.

Interestingly, there is a cavity in the bottom of the hosel that looked to be the same diamater (at least) as a Wishon weight port. It looked deep enough to take the 6g tungsten weight, but I didn't check.

If you can locate a Wishon 870 ti 3 or 4 iron head, you have a weapon. I used the 4 iron as a driver a good many of times. That thing is a ROCKET. I wish I had never sold that set, it was great when I wasn't.

Last night I built this. I had to bend it two degrees upright, and it was not that easy for being a soft metal frame. I felt like I was pushing on an old Ping.

DonM That looks really nice. Interested to hear how it performs. I just snagged a used Callaway UT driving iron I liked and plan on reshafting it with a Recoil 110 like I have in my irons.

When you spend $50 on a club head, shouldn't they oil the hosel bore so you don't have to clean up rust?? I'd rather clean out oil residue....

Thanks Don. Agreed on rust vs. oil residue. I suppose it depends on foundry where produced. In general, I find majority of Aerotech shafts play stiff to flex.

scotts33 My understanding is that this is a lighter version of the SteelFiber concept. Using graphite winding instead of steel. So, a filament wound shaft, right? 🤓
I believe it's a sheet core which is then wound with the graphite wire. Anyway, I bought it new on ebay at a little discount, thought I'd try it. I'll report back.

scotts33 Scott, I went out and hit a few. It's very nice. It launches high, and was very straight for me. The sound is a good hot sound. It sounds like you've hit an actual hybrid. This would be a good alternative for golfers who like irons and can't get along with hybrids.

The shaft is playing too stiff for me. Not a ton, but enough to make me over swing.

DonM had one built. Took an old Callaway Big Bertha (2002) 3 iron and put a 40.5" shaft in it and that things a beast. Consistent flight a nd almost always dead straight. Can even play a little stinger with it. Love it.
