I'm not into Minimalist golf myself (I figure I need all the help I can get!!!), but one of my regular playing
partners is. He's 65, short (about 5'7"), so he's always had trouble with longer clubs....always used a
2-wood off the tee, for example, but he could hit that one 240. But whenever he bought a new wood of
any kind, he would have me shorten it TWO inches!! I'd lecture him on what that would do to shaft flex
and swing weight, but he didn't care, just went on hitting it down the middle. Well, in the past couple of
years, he's had some shoulder problems and knee problems, so now he's convinced that he CAN'T play
with longer clubs! After much experimenting his bag consists of: 6 hybrid (which he uses to drive and
for long fairway shots (he hits about 180-200 with it!!), a 7 and 8 iron, a PW, a SW, and a putter! Six
friggen' clubs, and he hits them all in the center of the clubface every time!! We played today, and he
shot 77 from the Senior tees.....so did I, but I used all 14 clubs, and he did it with SIX!!! Unbelievable!!
My hat is off to you guys who can go out with just a handful of clubs and score the same or better than
with a full set!!!
