Just read this. What a Great Achievement!!!

Way to go Jim!!!

Al Geiberger should be justifiably proud that he set a record that stood for almost 40 years before it was broken. Additionally for those who are bothered by Furyk's putting routine the good news is you didn't have to watch too much of it today!

Lots of 59's including Furyk's 2013.

I remember maybe Chip Beck's 59 had a $1 M bonus on it ? Is that right ?

Release if the story I read was right, there have been 600,000 rounds played in the PGA tour since the first 59 and only 6 have been recorded since then... Not a single 58 until now. That's incredible for one, but 1 in every 100,000 rounds to see a 59 is darn impressive in itself.

Amazing that he shot -12 in a single round, where -14 actually won the tournament. To have one official sub-60 tournament round in the career highlights is rare... but two??? Off the charts.

I must be doing something majorly wrong, because the game isn't remotely that simple to me!

PS - what are the odds that Furyk gets a captain's pick this fall for RC??? Hopefully not, but wouldn't surprise me.

Would it make any difference if the 59 was achieved at par 72 , or 71, or 70 ?

Heard the roar over on 18, when I was watching players on 1. Although, it is not the most difficult course (I've played it) it is a great achievement nonetheless. No else has done it. Bravo, Mr. Furyk.

Release to me it does a bit, you have to go that much further under par, but there is no qualification for that on the books.
