meagain sdandrea1 Next time I need some old PING heads bored to .370, can I reach out? Do you have the reamer?
candukid I reamed some PINGS by hand using the Golfworks reamer bit. You use a very slow speed on a handheld cordless drill and you can hold the head in your hand. You are not removing very much material at all. I had no problems at all.
meagain Rickochet Here is my high tech reaming jig. Two wooden blocks with a "v" groove cut in. Stick the hosel up throught the hole in the drill press table and clamp. Use a proper reaming bit and cutting oil. You can do a head in less than a minute. I just did a set of Ping Eye 2 and getting ready to do a set of Eye 2+. That's at lest a safe setup and should give a good result. Easy for any one to do. Everyone should have a drill press if no other machine tools.
Par4QC Rickochet Use short strokes and pull out to clear then plunge back in. That's gonna take all night! Rickochet And she should use proper eye protection.
meagain As long as the vees cut into the wood are accurately cut as in they hold the shank vertically. One other thing you want to check is the tram of your spindle. That is making sure that the spindle is 90 degrees to the table. Don't trust the markings. On a mill one would use a dial indicator and sweep the table. I get it within .0005 over a 6" sweep for tool and die work.
meagain sdandrea1 Yes, but a 3/8" drill bit works as well. That is a whole .015 difference. Doesn't that matter?
sdandrea1 meagain That is a whole .015 difference. Doesn't that matter? Not in my experience. With good epoxy and glass beads, I have had zero failures.
meagain A drill if not perfectly sharpened can cut a lot bigger than its size. Reamer much safer if wanting a properly sized hole. Do most of Yinz club builders have a drill press? Do not hold it in your hand. That's a good way to lose a finger or two or even worse. Unless you are Canadian.
candukid When i say slow speed i mean SLOW. I had no problems. With a 3/8 bit i sure as hell wouldn’t hold it by hand. Remember you are only taking .015 using a reamer. The 3/8 doubles that. Too much.
sdandrea1 candukid The 3/8 doubles that. Too much. Really? My 3/8" bit slides down into a .370 hosel without cutting. It doesn't start cutting until I hit the taper. Hmmmmm. Maybe my bit is on the small side.
meagain My Drill Press, proof I do own one and the screen shot from my home converted CNC Mill. drill press 1 1/2 HP.

My mistake for some reason I had the size of .390 in my brain. Sorry about that. I'll bet that the .370 hosel is slightly oversize to allow .370 shaft to fit and allow for epoxy. Get out your gage pin set and check it?
Par4QC sdandrea1 3/8" =.375. You should be getting a lot of 'play', esp. after prepping the tips. Careful. But, with those bore throughs, you can just run a screw, with a washer on it, up the end of the shaft. It won't fly off then. 🤣 🤯 🤣

DonM meagain Yes I do need an aluminum clamp block. I’ll send you the sketch and please let me know what you think.
