I would hold it in my precision ground custom made (by me) Vee Block, and then put it into a vise on my milling machine. Would get a perfectly straight and sized hole with safety.

If I thought I was going to do a lot of hosel reaming, I'd get or make some kind of fixture and a drill press, but you just can't find that stuff for $12...... 😁

Have one and a Bridgeport milling machine which is a 2000 lb precision drill press. If you need pics to prove it, let me know. If anyone needs that one special part that they can't find or not available or something special made to order. Let me know.

Yes, but a 3/8" drill bit works as well.

I reamed some PINGS by hand using the Golfworks reamer bit. You use a very slow speed on a handheld cordless drill and you can hold the head in your hand. You are not removing very much material at all. I had no problems at all.

Rickochet Here is my high tech reaming jig. Two wooden blocks with a "v" groove cut in. Stick the hosel up throught the hole in the drill press table and clamp. Use a proper reaming bit and cutting oil. You can do a head in less than a minute. I just did a set of Ping Eye 2 and getting ready to do a set of Eye 2+.

That's at lest a safe setup and should give a good result. Easy for any one to do. Everyone should have a drill press if no other machine tools.

As long as the vees cut into the wood are accurately cut as in they hold the shank vertically. One other thing you want to check is the tram of your spindle. That is making sure that the spindle is 90 degrees to the table. Don't trust the markings. On a mill one would use a dial indicator and sweep the table. I get it within .0005 over a 6" sweep for tool and die work.

Not in my experience. With good epoxy and glass beads, I have had zero failures.
