Guess we'll see how the amateurs handle it this week.
The Masters .... Women's
Summer is when they do maintenance and modifications to holes etc.
I've seen that flyover as well as photos and the course itself is left in a pretty untidy look. Nothing like what we see on tv in April.
Not 100 % sure what strains of grasses they use but would say that it's bent grass on the greens and in summer Bermuda and in Fall overseesed with Rye grass and grow and thicken it all winter.
The summer Bermuda grass withstands intense heat but goes dormant in winter. The Rye grass grown in fall and over winter is why it's so green and lush when we see it in spring. They also paint any areas of brown grass with green paint....noticed this when there.

I bow to a more knowledgeable one. My point was that they close the course. I assumed it was winter, but, apparently I was wrong.

I would think that, since ANGC has a national membership, play in the summer months would be pretty slim anyway. These guys are all members of clubs back home, where play is active during the summer months. So the summer months would be the right time to close Augusta National down. Also, it's hot and humid as hell down there in the summer, so who'd go there to play golf? I've also read where the summer is when all of the course renovations
take place at Augusta...... all the more reason to close things down. Just some random thoughts that make sense to me.....
Showing the amateur women play at Augusta now on NBC.
Kupcho is extremely hard on herself. Not sure how well you can play at Augusta with a negative attitude/mindset?
That missed 2 footer hurt, but she did a heck of a job on the 4 foot comebacker.
I could see Augusta expanding the Women's Amateur first.
Women's Masters on the pro level.....Talk about elevating the women's pro game !!!
It may take a while.
What a back nine and finish by Jennifer Kupcho. She said she got a migraine headache on #8 and could only see half of what she was looking at. I get these and know exactly what she's talking about. She relied on her caddie to line up putts and tell her where to hit it.
She knew the blurry vision would pass and she would be left with just the headache. Knowing this what a gutsy performance. Great inaugural tournament for the young women.
She hit some great shots for sure. I like the fire in Fassi and the fact that grabs ass with her competitors. Lol
What are the scores? Was out playing today and missed the coverage...

Put it this way. Kupcho could've 4 putted the 18th and still won. She birdied it.
