On average PGA pros only hit 50% of fairways. Why would a hacker think they can hit more than that?

But PGA pro's can hit miraculous recovery shots hackers can not. I for one am not a big proponent of distance over accuracy if you want to score. That's just me.

A player gets under 95 mph it's a law of declining averages. Play a shaft/head combo that keeps you in the fairway and play the correct tee box when possible.

Another example where nothing the pros do correlates to what the average golfer does. I hit the ball 230 max. If I hit a ball right I might end up in the FW. A guy who hits it 250 hits the exact same shot and is well into the rough/woods. A pro hitting the exact same line at 300 plus yards is off the planet. Not to mention the pros generally play narrower Fw's than your average course. I've had years where I've averaged over 70% FW's hit, not because I'm a great driver of the ball but because I don't hit it that far.

The golf industry retailers have the golf consumers all obsessed with swing monitor golf. I don’t blame them it’s a way to sell stuff. The reality is the average golfer would be better served with a roll of impact tape. The clubs you hit the closest to center impact are in most cases the ones you will play the best with. What good is spin rate and launch angle for shots wanked off the heel or toe?

+1 It's marketing equipment not fitting equipment IMO. Bells and whistles move equipment. The guy "fitting" equipment at Dick's this week will be selling insurance in 2 months. 😉

If you would like to try the Matrix White Tie shafts, Diamond Tour Golf's ebay web site has the version made for Cobra (in R flex) for just $9.99 each. I ordered 2 and they should arrive tomorrow. I'm going to try them in the Knuth Golf High Heat driver and 3 wood.

That's what I find. I kept going up in loft trying to find distance as I get older and kept getting shorter. Switched to an 8 driver and picked up 20 yuards over my 12 and 14* drivers.

Point made. IMO golf at lower skill levels is still a game of accuracy over distance at the pro level it's distance as highly skilled golfers can make miraculous recovery shots that hackers can not which piles up strokes. That's the difference. Real golf vs. PGA golf. Not to mention the galleries that rebound shots off line and trampled down rough that we wind up in and can't extricate yourself easily....more strokes. Plus lost balls that don't happen on the PGA.
