Recommendations for a High Launch/Low Spin Driver Shaft???

In the 50 gram/60 gram weight range, regular flex.
I've been told such an animal doesn't exist but at a driver fitting I won the fitter suggested such???
I'm by no means a fitter but was thinking the higher loft adjustable head with a mid launch/mid spin shaft would work. I see them in low spin but they are all stiff flex. Swing speed of 90 necessitates a regular flex.

Any suggestions?

Not a fitter, but with SS < 100 I've always heard you may not want low spin as you need some spin to keep it in the air.

I don't think it exists (high launch low spin as it relates to shaft alone), but that maybe is another thread. Get the right loft and then narrow down the shaft offerings based on the launch monitor and demo experience!

The reason a ball goes high is because the ball has a lot of spin. The reason a high lofted driver hits the ball high is because it puts more backspin on the ball. Any swing under 95 mph benefits from higher ball flight with as much carry as possible. Depending on roll is the worst way to chose a driver. The most carry distance will always be the best choice.

Not necessarily. There was a study by a local golf publication which revealed that women golfers with swing speeds above 90 mph were losing distance when using recommended drivers. It sounds counterintuitive, but the best distance was achieved with stiffer shafts and lower lofts than was considered conventional.

I heard the Matrix White Tie was a high launch, low spin shaft. So I bought 3 wood shafts. I’ve only played them once so far, and results are mixed. These are regular flex, and the day I played was a touch wet. Just for a point of reference, I swapped them out with regular flex Aldila NVS shafts of the same weight, mid 50’s in the driver, mid 60’s in the fairways. The NVS shafts have always been mid-trajectory and very straight, very stable. The White Tie in my driver felt better (softer) and still had a straight flight. The trajectory was higher and went a few yards longer, but rollout was hard to judge due to wetness. Both my fairways were trailing off to the right, mostly because of winter rust, and probably affected my trajectory as well. All in all, the White Tie felt better than the NVS, but one round with winter rust shouldn’t tell the whole story. I’m gonna get in a few more rounds before I decide if the White Ties stay or the NVS get plugged back in.

That's what I find. I kept going up in loft trying to find distance as I get older and kept getting shorter. Switched to an 8 driver and picked up 20 yuards over my 12 and 14* drivers.

I think how much carry and roll depends on where you play too. Here in New England I'll take almost all carry because many of our fairways are shaggy or wet or both. In Arizona I'll take more roll.

Yep...I spent a lot of time over the last year chasing that magical 16-17 launch and 2200 spin. Best I could get to on a launch monitor was 14 launch. All I got was a high drive that came down soft and didn't roll. Frustrating.

On a whim, I bought a Cobra F9 with a low launch HZRDUS shaft just because I wanted to check out the F9 head. Left it on the 9 degree setting, and played Monday. I had several drives that just rolled and rolled and ended up a good 20-30 yards past what I expected. So I took my gamer F8, tuned loft down from 11 to 9.5, and it was going 20 yards further. Here in SoCal, firm and fast fairways don't need that 16-17 launch.

I can’t remember the last time I played on a firm and fast fairway in the Delaware area. I’ll take all the carry I can get and if I stumble on a firm fast day I’ll consider it a bonus.

I get a lot of roll in Texas. When I played in Vermont a couple summers ago the grass grabbed the ball and stopped it almost immediately. My drives were consistently 20 yards shorter at least. I would definitely switch to a higher loft driver if I played there all the time.

That's generally why I grab a 3 wood or 4i on par 4's less than 360 yards if the landing area is tight. Doesn't always work out, but I put those two in play, particularly the 4i, at a higher percentage than the driver.

We do have Jekyll and Hyde fairways around here. The soil is mostly clay and in the winter and spring usually the ground is soft, often to the point of plugged drives and little or no roll. But in the summer and fall those same fairways can bake out so hard that I can sometimes get 30 yards or more of roll out of a low trajectory drive. In past years I've alternated between a 10.5 degree SMT Indio and a 12 degree Bang 401 BOM to get the most out of whatever condition is present. This year I have an adjustable Cobra King LTD.

I am starting to feel the same. I really struggled at my new home course last year as almost all the holes are tight. Later in the year I started to look at the hole and decide if it was better to miss left or right. If a left miss is better I hit 3 wood since that draws easily for me and if right is better then I hit driver. I seemed to do a lot better with that reasoning.

Rickochet For me, the driver is the second weakest part of my game behind chipping and putting. I'm not a horrible driver, but I often cannot predict if its going left or right reliably, or if I force it to one direction or the other, how far it will curve in that direction. I can almost always put a 4 iron about 200 yards off a tee into a fairway. Of course that may then leave me with a 6 or 7 iron into the green instead of a 9 iron or wedge. So although I removed the driver danger, I often put even more pressure on my poor short game. Just depends on whether or not I'm having a decent day with the driver. Was having trouble with the 3 wood I was carrying, but I recently swapped it out for a 4 wood, and at least in my first range visit was getting much better consistency with little change in overall distance.
