Haters don't want to hear the truth. Once Chris Mortenson misreported the facts that night the 'cheating' train had left the station and the haters were off and running. I've battled most of them here and over at the other site and none of them read the Wells Report or can debate any of the facts of the case.
They just took a sliver of circumstantial evidence mainly the phone and ran with it. They will not acknowledge that even if Brady's phone was destroyed the NFL still had McNally and Jastremski's phone. The phone is a moot point. It became Goodells fallback reason (not cooperating) when his original case (equipment violation) against Brady fell apart.
Why Goodell chose to tarnish the reputation of one of the sports greatest players is puzzling. Bob Kraft has it right saying;
"The penalty imposed by the NFL was unprecedented, unjust and unreasonable, especially given that no empirical or direct evidence of any kind showed Tom did anything to violate League rules prior to, during or after the 2015 AFC Championship Game," Kraft said in Friday's statement after Brady announced he would not pursue further legal action. "What Tom has had to endure throughout this 18-month ordeal has been, in my opinion, as far removed from due process as you could ever expect in this country."
Hopefully when Brady returns against Cleveland in week 5 Jimmy G. will have them in a good spot.
