I lived in the dorms the first year which was a major mistake. They were co-ed. What a year that was. Nothing like it before or since. The biggest challenge of each day was getting to the cafeteria before dinner was over at 630p. No breakfast, no lunch, and up all night scrambling to get there just under the wire. I don't think I went to class other than to take the finals. Had a hard time working full-time overnight and commuting an hour both ways. I was an excellent student but my GPA was the worst it ever was trying to do it that way. I remember sitting out in front of one of the buildings cramming for 60 minutes off some notes I borrowed from a girl that was in my history or was it poli-sci class? I actually got a B in that class and was only there long enough to take the final. Wasn't real sure where to even go.
The second year I lived off-campus but within walking distance. I had a very difficult time spending any time doing what I was actually supposed to be there for. I wish I would've lived at home. I had the option but don't remember why I didn't take advantage of it. I think I was on bad terms with my step-dad who I didn't accept being with my mom who'd recently married him.
Glad your daughter has the option of being home. No reason school has to be so unaffordable just like health care. Crazy world we live in.
