I started playing in rock cover bands in 1966, and still do. My rig:
Gibson Les Paul Special
Paul Reed Smith Santana SE
Taylor acoustic electric
Fender Blues Junior all tube combo
Boss pedal board with:
Boss chromatic tuner
Ibanez Tube Screamer
Boss DS distortion
LovePedal delay
Boss Overtones
LINE 6 wireless rig
I'll round up some pics.
The Les Paul produces tone and sustain like no other if you are using a tube amp. If you want that 70s tone of AC/DC, Bad Company,
Free, Zeppelin, early Cream, etc., the Gibson is yours. If you're going digital in amp and effects, almost any guitar will do. It's heavy, yes and I only use it on about half our tunes. The PRS is a dream axe. Its light, it has 25 frets, it has action like a dream and a wide variety of tones. It's my favorite. You can't go wrong with a Strat, it's the PING Eye 2 of guitars. 🙂
