PING G410 irons

Any buzz? Seems like a slightly reduced version of the G400. I snuck a few pics in an Edwin Watts store the other day. No interest in changing for me. The G400 are still treating me well. In the last pic, G400 is on the right. I do not like the busy plastic looking cavity junk. I'm trying to talk Cwing into pulling the trigger.😉

I don't like the graphics or the number stampings. At least there is a screw in the toe to inject more poon if needed.

Agreed. Don't look bad in the playing position, but otherwise, WAY too busy.

The screw is a toe weight. These are not hollow. Poon must be stored in the shaft.

I saw them and they didn't look bad. If u have G400, there really isn't much difference. If u listen to a Ping ad though you'd think there was a huge difference.

If I was a g or g30 guy looking for irons, I'd spend the extra money and get the 410 over the 400. Blade length is better, top line is nice. Offset is a bit less, the wedges still take some getting used to looking at though.

As far as the cavities go... These are growing on me. I wasn't a fan of the g400 and I hated the G.

I haven't hit them yet. So far as much as I want to embrace the new iron tech...I just can't...the sound and feel is awful. The g700 and i500 are awful to me. I really want to see how the 410 is. The 400 was better than either the 700 or 500. The TM p790 is ok...at first I hated it but it's like butter compared to the Ping i500 and g700.

I think the G400 is probably the smallest iron I can hit well. Less offset , shorter blade and a thinner topline would hurt my game, methinks.

There is really not much difference but I can't see any point in going from the 400 to 410. Callaway Apex irons are damn nice looking. The whole line. Can't find anything wrong with them.

I played my Eye 2 irons today. That still might have been their best ever head. I can still play my best with those in heavy-ass stiff steel ZZ Lite shafts.

Heavy ass shafts keep you on plane, crazy stiff too keeps them straight. Great formula Ping had back then before all kinds of shaft and fitting info became more available.

It truly was a club for the masses. Not too big or small. Not the longest it shortest. EZ to hit straight. Brilliant.

I took the Eye 2s out again today for one of my weekly 4-man team events. We played 2 net best balls on 14 holes, plus 3 net best balls on 1, 9, 10 and 18 (the corners). I shot 77, which is low for me (12.5 index). The funny thing is, I only hit about 6 full iron shots all day. The new G30 driver was a straight bomber all day and I had a shit-ton of bump and runs shots on the shorter par 4s and par 5s (7i). I'd like to say that the old Eye 2s carried the day, but in the end it came down to good chipping and putting. It was nice having them in the bag, but I was painfully reminded of why I switched to graphite and just how good the G400 irons are. Not to dismiss the Eye 2 performance at all tho. I hit a couple of 8i and W full shots that were high, straight and stopped where they landed. They are timeless, but G400 are back in the bag.

Team got to -29 and won first place $ by 1 stroke.🙂

I hit the g410 irons inside today. Really nothing special...I hit them side by side with the g400. I threw the i210 into the mix as well. I210 just feels,so much better...like you compress it. I210 spins more and is a little shorter than the g series. Both g irons were the same for me. Launched high with little spin. I could get used to looking at the g410 at address though.

If u are itching...Rick's idea of a combo set isn't bad since I like a thinner sole on the short irons. I don't know how I feel about that. I know when I played in Orlando a few times the other year I had the Ping G irons as rentals and they were fine on full shots but " touch" shots, the wide sole I didn't like.

Money wise... The i.e.-1, i200 and i210 I see no difference in feel or performance They are all made with 431 stainless steel. Soft and as you've seen with my i.e.-1's, can be made to look like new with a scotch brite. The only thing I didn't like about mine was the cavity...I was ready to get the i200's just because I hated the cavity so much. Not that I stripped the blue color off, I don't have an issue.
