DonM So, I think they would work. But would they sell? Would the development costs be abnormally high? Thoughts from everyone? Do you know golfers who would play better with these?
Good concept and the same concept has been available in standard lengths for a long time. Power Play Select 5000 and Acer React for example and a small host of all-hybrid head sets are still out there. The big question: is the senior market big enough to spend the development cost of a SL version of those club heads? Will the slow-swinging senior golfer accept them?
YES, I know a LOT of golfers that would play better with them, but their egos won't allow it. They don't know they're old and swing slow. They want something in the bag that looks like a golf club, not a shovel. Consequently, I NEVER see these clubs at courses.
Anecdote: I built a set of the Power Play Select 5000 for shits and giggles with Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue Axis shafts and they were damn nice stix - EZ to launch high and straight. When I was done with them, I figured I would eat most of the cost, but they sold on eBay for over 50% of my investment. That's a loss of course, but I was shocked I got that for them. I had several bidders too. I had a notion they would not sell at all, so there is a market out there, I guess. I have my doubts that any of the sellers will sink the cost to make a SL version of an already low-selling genre. Aaron? @ValueGolf
