DC300 This is one mistake I won’t make again. I will find one I like, buy it and not look back, it actually end up costing far less in the long run.

sdandrea1 yeah, I went through probably 15 different 3 woods, then found the 3 deep at the Callaway fitting center and made them ship me THAT club, back to my house. Haven’t looked at a 3 wood since. First time I ever paid retail for a club in my life. It turns out to be worth it, if you have the right one.

I can't remember when it was exactly, but it was right after PING had come out with the replacement for the K15 line. They had a bunch of new ones at Dicks for blowout prices.

I gave the F9 a whirl today, The sound and feel of the head were very nice. I don’t mind the crown, but the results were not good for me on this go around. I was all over the place with it, maybe it was a poorly fit shaft, or just plain rustiness. I’ll have to give it a go in the spring. There is promise, but I could barely break 300 yards with it and that came with an average club head speed of 117mph, something was obviously off.

Yeah, that's f'ed up. Launch monitor maybe was having issues. What were your other numbers?...ball speed, spin, height, landing angle? Could tell from that what is going on.

What shaft did u use?

I spent a hour today at Golfers warehouse today hitting on the same GC2 monitor I did last week. I hit the same Cobra/ Atmos black 6s combo as last week along with The Smoke 6.0 60 gram and the Atmos Black 6x. The Smoke was lousy....just bad numbers and wasn't kicking correctly. I got good numbers with the Atmos 6s last week so I figured I'd try the 6x. I hit both today. The 6x might be better for me. More ball speed, lower launch 12 degrees vs. 14, lower spin, by a maybe 300 rpm on average and more distance. I just need to think about the consistency/ face contact.

I also hit the Callaway Flash SubZero. Bad part was the poor shaft selection. A bunch of Even Flow Green that were all too light and flexible, nothing stiff or X and one HZRDUS Smoke 6.0 that was 70 grams. I would have liked to hit the 6.0 in 60 grams like Cobra had...but the Cobra one really didn't work out great. So...the Subzero....vs. the Cobra

Subzero looks a little better at address, I just like the way the heel settles into the ground. Both heads nicely shaped, nod to the Flash though. Adjustability... cobra has a lot of settings but on the 9 degree it's 1.5 degrees either way plus draw settings. The Callaway has the dual cog adapter to change face angle and loft independently of each other. It also goes one degree down and 2 up. With that head, I like that. Flash wins on adapter.

Sound and Performance... Cobra wins hands down on better sound. Performance, Cobra wins BUT...I had to hit the 70 gram Smoke in the Flash. There were no choices. Shaft was ok in 70 grams but no consistency in direction, ball speed etc...basically crap for me like the one in the Cobra. I did manage some solid hits and the numbers were very close to the Cobra /Atmos6x.

Next thing I want to do is hit the Cobra 6s and 6x again....see what's better. Grab a better shaft in the Flash and see what the numbers are vs. the Cobra. My goal of going into the season with 2 clubs in mind is happening. I also hit the Taylormade M5. Great sound, Tensei white shaft was nice but I can't stand looking at the face and the head is too busy with the red ring around it.

Right now, I'm throwing the Ping G400 max and LSTout of the picture. I hit them today as well. Lower ball speed, more spin, less distance.

colej I didn’t take mine with me, I was excited to see it there to demo. Just couldn’t quite get it right. No fair comparison for club head speed, but I hit 119mph a couple times and to be doing that, having not swung a club in months, there might be something to the aerodynamics of it. I never got fully comfortable as my damn shoes were too slippery to feel good about going after it. That certainly could have contributed to it all.

The other thing I didn’t really care for, I couldn’t tell where I was catching it, the grooved face hid the ball marks really well and it felt just about the same, other than some obvious misses. I would bet it is going to be good in real world action for a lot of people, if I can’t tell where I’m hitting it, it must have high MOI and a pretty evenly springy face.

Didn't think of that, but as long as the face is clean you should still be able to tell, but the mark will be harder to see. I could still see it when I demo'd at DSG. It's one thing I always look for on mishits is the ball mark, so I always clean the face after every tee ball!

ode I was trying to wipe it off better, but I couldn’t get it quite clean enough to verify where I was getting it. There were a lot of good feeling shots that appeared to be off the center, but telling exactly where it was, really tough.

Typhoon I hit the Atmos 6x, it was spinning a LOT. I’ll have to get back and try it again with something to compare it to. Need to know if the monitor is off or if the fit was really bad.

So, the Flash Subzero...I just went on the Callaway website to check out the shaft upgrades because the stock options are sort of horseshit for a driver north of $500.

I looked at the Atmos Black 6x that I liked in the Cobra.

In the Cobra...no charge...it's a stock offering so the club is still $448.
In the Flash...$300 up charge on top of the $529 retail. Comes to $829. The Tensei CK pro orange which is a superior shaft to the Atmos is $250 which makes no sense.

$829... That club better also be cutting my lawn, snow blowing my driveway and picking up the dog crap.
