There was a thread on these but it turned into a long contentious thing about other things, so... Who's played or playing these, and what do you think about...

If you like a low profile, large footprint style head, these are perfect. The paint finish and satin sole are nice too. Solid unit. I may need the 7w. A 9w would be AWESOME!

My favorite fairway of all time is the wishon 949MC (with the score lines) so that not really a low profile or deep faced fairway. It’s say it’s right in between.

DonM I for one would love to see a 28 degree 9 wood in this set. It would motivate me to buy all of them. Without it, meh, not really. If I want to complete an SL concept bag, and if the mid-upper-20 lofts hybrids are not doing it for me, then I need a fairway wood. Probably a 28. This is a very real problem for SL and slow swing speeds. You're selling the SL concept but not solving this problem. And other candidate clubs to solve the problem are virtually non existent, and will not match the other clubs in the SL bag.

Agree with you on this. My irons start at 30° and right now I play Wishon 775HS 18°, 24°, and 30° hybrids at single length (heavier and shorter and likely less distance than these FWs would generate being longer and lighter), so a FW replacement would optimally be higher lofted than 24°.

That said, VG is the one paying for the tooling so I respect their business decision.

Agree 110% !!! I've never cared for the looks of hybrids, although I've owned plenty of them. I have reached the conclusion that I play the fairway woods better than the hybrids, but still find that I usually have a gap between my highest lofted wood and the strongest iron that I can hit and elevate consistently. I realize that hybrids are supposed to fill in that gap, but as I get older and notice the "distance creep," I can't even seem to find many hybrids the loft that I need. (It doesn't help that many of the hybrids are made with offset....which I hate!)

I also agree that Maltby is missing the boat by not offering more lofted woods/hybrids to their customers. I imagine they would give the same argument that Aaron from VG offered regarding sales, etc. Too bad....they're both missing the boat, IMO!

Callaway is one of the few holdouts that still offer high lofted fairways. As a senior player, I have much better luck with fairway woods from 20 degrees and higher than I do hybrids. I think male egos in the market are limiting sales.

Fixed it for ya. 😉 TM also has an M2 7 wood.

Components wise besides the Pinhawk, Integra Sooolong and Bang SF offer fairway heads up to a 21 wood as does Super Concord. I had the Sooolong set up to the 11 wood and it is very solid but Spuzz wouldn't like the gayazz blue.

I gotta get me a 7 wd. probably. Tried them a few years ago but they all want to have that damned closed face on them, which sends the ball into the left rough/weeds. I've been trying to hit 19 hybrids the past few years, but it's a no go with several brands. I have a 19 fw club that I hit just fine, and a 22* hybrid, which I hit just fine also. But the gap is kinda far, according to the way I hit them. 7 wd. should fill it, I think.

I gotta go with colej's response....

It's a battle - cheap bastages vs. pricks. 😜 I bought the Pinhawk SL fairways when they first came out and have been promoting them since, but nobody listens to me. 😞

When Adams was around, I think they had 9 woods. I knew TM and Cally were still doing it. I think Cally sells an 11 wood., but they have always had those high lofts going back decades.

Just remembered, I did buy a new Cally Heavenwood last summer. But damn me if I can hit it straight; everything goes left. It does have somewhat of a closed face on it though. Also bought a new Cally XR 3 wd. that does the same thing. Also with slightly closed face, which I cannot deal with.😝
I'll be getting rid of both of them in the spring.

IN1ZONE comes in 9w, but only 3 degrees of loft seperation between 3 - 5 - 7 - 9, so it's only 1 degree weaker then the Pinhawk 7. Here is your chance to ask Jason for an 11😉 ya geezers😋

Not trying to trash a competitor, but how does 3 degree loft separation in a fairway wood the same length make any sense?

colej I have not.....made one for my dad for Xmas and it looks decent, I wouldn't call it deep face but its not low profile, I'd say face height is in the 35-36mm range, workable for those of us who like a deeper face.

ValueGolf less sense then 4, that's why I pointed it out so folks would know. It does however allow a 6 degree loft seperation if say 16 - 22 or 19 - 25 is a better combo. Doubt this was the intent, but thru dumb luck I think it would work, while still allowing for SL.

I think the pinhawks look better and by user reviews they likely perform better too. I get stage freight when there is.any hint of low profile going on. We just dont get along! For me 3w is critical off the tee as my home course I need it on 4-5 holes, possibly 6 depending on conditions. And I need a deep face off the tee, just inspires more confidence!

Rickochet These seem like a very deep (front to back) wood. But from what I understand, when you design a deep head you move the CG rearward, which increases the gear effect. In response, I thought you had to increase the horizontal face bulge. These don't seem to have much of a face bulge.

If these heads "work," I'm not complaining at all. A severe face bulge psyches me out. The Thriver from Hireko that I played for a while before it was stolen had a similar shape to these woods. I really liked the Thriver, but I had a bit of hard time standing over it because of the severe bulge. What has been your experience with accuracy on off-centre hits?

I don't know the exact specs on the bulge but I wouldn't consider it "severe." Actually I never even thought of the bulge on these heads until you mentioned it, so it isn't something that jumps out at your.l The heads are just very solid on center hits and off center. I have had no issues with the ball squirting off right or left on off center hits. They also look very nice at address.

Straight. Straight. Straight. I hit a toe shot today on a long par 3 (174y) that resulted in a slight push to the right and landed just short of the green. Had to carry 100 yards of water, BTW. The ball mark was way out on the toe. I crushed one today (center hit) on a par 5 (2nd shot) that carried and rolled to a spot I'd never reached before. This is a solid head.
