So maybe I'm just being selfish here, but I have what I would consider a fairly normal "problem" for the average golfer and I would like a solution.
I hit 5 woods straight and playable, pretty close to every time I use them, which SHOULD get me to use it off the tee, but I'm too scared to pull it out because A) its not a driver and this is a driver length hole 😎 The driver being so much bigger, inspires confidence that I will hit it and not top it/ miss wildly off the toe/heel.
So far the market has produced a pretty large 3 wood, calling it a mini driver, I have the original version, the 3deep and yes its good, but not deep enough to allow me to swing and not worry about top city.
The THRIVER, 460cc of goodness at 43.5 or 44 inches, still too long and the head is too light.
I want a 16 degree (though 17 or 18 is probably right for the general population), 380ish cc head, tall face, weighted as a 5 wood, NEUTRAL weights and face angle, recomended length of 41.5 inches. Lable it as a safety blanket for all I care, hell maybe thats the name, you have a fail safe, maybe this is the Safety Net or Saftey Blanket.. whatever, make look good, not like " Perfect Club" it still needs a hot face a d a fairly traditional look, though, in my head, I see something like the older Cleveland designs with a big face and sharply sloping crown to lower the CG and move the weight to the perimeter. Now we have a club people dont get laughed at for and can actually hit a damn fairway with.
