Yeah, the coral reef is in danger. Saw where scientists are harvesting some of it to hopefully regrow it. Cape Cod fishermen are seeing some species that never have been seen that far north. Fish are seeking colder water.
We have a convergence of climate change and man (over fishing) affecting the ocean's eco system. 50 years ago we used to go waterskiing in Nantucket Sound. In 1974 they filmed Jaws on Martha’s Vineyard.
Ironically there were no Great White sharks off the Cape waters back then.
The reason was there were no seals on the Cape back then and seals are prey for the Great Whites. Now there are seals there and so are the Great White sharks. Not sure I’d go water skiing there now. 😏50 years ago yes. Now no.
There’s a show currently playing on HBO called After The Bite. It tells the story of the Great Whites and the Seals now off the Cape Cod waters as well as the changes in the ocean's eco system.
The ‘Bite’ refers to a young man who was attacked and died in 2018 off a beach on Cape Cod.
