Geezus am I the only one that thinks the US has a chance this weekend?
Some of you guys better just stick to the PBJ thread then!
Ryder Cup, Who Will Shine?
Par4QC I think it's a given that TW and Bryson will be partners. Probably every day
Not a good idea, imho, TW and Bryson play a different game. When one drops a shot, the other won't be able to pick it up for the other. Sure, they both play what looks like methodical and technical game, but somehow different.
ode Amen to that, but if so, it will be a great game.
Ringoblack I don't think the pairings are necessarily done in a manner that reflects players' games. I'm seeing more compatibility pairings. They are all Pros, with supposedly no weaknesses.(?)
I also think Phil will be paired with Finau.
US Team 'punks' Tiger after his late arrival to Paris due to his win Sunday:
“I ran into Jim Furyk and he said, ‘We were thinking about giving Tiger the cold shoulder like they do in baseball when the guy hits his first home run.’ He asked, ‘Do you think Tiger will be OK with that?’” Woods’ caddie Joe LaCava told Ryder Cup Radio on Sirius/XM. “I was like, ‘Of course he would. He’s got a sense of humor.’”
The U.S. team had plenty to cheer on Sunday with vice captain Steve Stricker also winning on the PGA Tour Champions. But it was Woods’ reception following his 80th PGA Tour victory and his first in five years that provided the best reaction.
“Tiger shows up about a half-hour later and is looking for some high-fives from everybody and they wouldn’t give him the time of day. They weren’t even looking at him, they all have their backs to him,” LaCava said. “He’s looking at me like what’s going on? He’s not a guy who is looking for fanfare, but these are his boys. He’s looking for 11 guys to run up and give him a good hug.”
LaCava said the team ignored Woods for about two minutes before breaking the silence with cheers and congratulations.
Rickie Fowler, as always, was the first guy I noticed waiting for Tiger to walk off the 18th green to congratulate him.
He's always there, regardless of who it is or the circumstances... the player who seems genuinely happy to congratulate another player who has achieved something significant. He's such a great example for junior golfers.... doesn't play slow, doesn't say anything bad about anyone, shies away from the drama and controversy that the media pines for... and has always maintained as much grace in defeat as he has in victory.
He may never win a major, or maybe he will win several. But if Rickie was my kid - I'd be extremely proud of him as a father.
Furyek today threw cold water on Tiger and Phil being teamed together this week. He didn't totally rule it out, he just said it was improbable.
I agree that I think Phil will be in on only 1 team play match unless he lights it up big time.
