Why did my wife make that statement? She was joking. I still didn't care for the connotation as I KNOW how an officer thinks being in law enforcement for 6 years on jail side of things. Nobody cares about your skin color. Only care if you can make it so they can't go home at the end of their shift.

Our black minority members and women have yet to sign-in on the topic, right? Proof's in the pudding. There are a good number of folks on this board who might benefit from at least reading a disparate viewpoint. Not one black member here? Not one female member here?

Not one individual who's been agitated by my comments has reflected on any kind of even anecdotal story about how one of their black friends might respond to the original photograph? I can't help but wonder why? Personal attacks have been their rebuttals. Well, that and Toulon trying to dispute what proportion of one's genetics determine their race. LOL Given our ability to quite cheaply examine the composition of one's DNA, that's pretty funny too.

I'm not agitated by your views or beliefs. I respect your right to have them. The only reason I haven't joined a discussion with you on any of your points is that in the past, my opposing views were always met with ridicule; never a civil discourse. I mean ALWAYS. Never once have I gotten the impression that you value anything I have to say if it opposes your stance. I gave up years ago because it's always the same.

And, therein lies the problem... caring (or not).

Well, let me put it to you this way: As it applies to racism, bigotry, sexism, sexual harassment, ageism, the trodding-down of any or all of those who are abused and disenfranchised:

My friend had posited that JoePa didn't deserve to be fired, and I remember seeing on the news Penn State students rioting and flipping over cars because of this. So, I'll not be silent - nor silenced (unless @Jramers believes my presentation to be to harsh).

Figure it out. Some say that efforts made by others, to allow us our free speech - the liberty to express ourselves has been earned through their sacrifice. Well, I'd rather not waste their efforts. I'd rather express my concerns and views - with just the right people - perhaps if folks hear the message often enough they might give pause and consideration to views not like theirs and might understand how they continually validate those concerns. So, thanks for reinforcing my beliefs and providing me with sufficient reinforcement to carry on.

NOBODY CARES TO DETAIL what race they are here....so... there is NO way you'll ever know for certain what the demographics of this board is. Yes, it's a reasonable assumption that the majority is white as the demographics of golf would indicate a majority white golf board.

My wife that night knew I was concerned. She broke the tension. I was aware how heightened an officer might be due to the anniversary of the shooting in downtown Dallas. It was big news here and there's no way it wasn't affecting all who serve around here. I wanted to do everything just right as to not get plugged.

You are trying to impose your ideology onto a situation you weren't part of and blow it out of proportion. It's a curious choice but you seem hell bent on proving to everyone that you seemingly care about these issues more than anyone else here. That may or may not be true but I get the sense that what is true for you isn't for anyone else but you. Very egocentric. Clearly, you have some connection in your family whether you're married to an african american or something like that that many of us don't.

Do you see me going off half cocked on here about how nobody undertands cancer quite like I do? It might be true that I do or there are a handful of others that do, but I recognize that there's no way anyone who hasn't been in my shoes couldn't possibly get it to the degree I do. You, yourself as a presumably non-black can not get it to the degree you wish to lead all of us to believe you do. You may be a degree of separation closer to it than some of us, but, again you have no idea how closely connected any of us are. You are not seeing answers you wish to see or you would give and that immediately means to you that people are bigoted. Of course, you stop yourself from saying it but that's my opinion and I will state it with saying I don't know. Can you ever say that you don't know or will you continue insisting you and only you do?

You not being silent will change nothing. You are free to tell all of us how only you get it. I have tried to get it by putting myself in situations most wouldn't choose. I know what it's like to be the only white guy so I now can relate to what it might be like to be the only one of another race within a group. I'll never understand what it was like to have a recent history of slavery and being counted as 3/5 of a person. One thing I do understand is hurt and brokenness. My heart is incredibly sensitve to those things. So, while I may not have a perspective that I couldn't possibly have I do know what it is to hurt and to be broken and my heart is my guide in situations like these and it's served me well over the years.

I more than most can comment on these issues because I live them first hand. I live in an urban , city neighborhood. I am the president of my community association and on the mayors transition team . Our city ( Wilmington De.) ., a city of about 70,000 had a reputation as one of the most crime infested cities per capita in the country. We have no political diversity, Republicans don’t even run for office. My neighborhood is a model of diversity, about an almost 3 way split between white, black and Hispanic. Over the past 2 years, with the efforts of the new mayor, new police chief and my concerned neighbors and I we have turned my neighborhood into an almost zero criminal incident neighborhood. The result is an almost doubling in property values. Some may call this “ gentrafication”. Who cares? It’s great if it happens in your neighborhood. I meet with the chief of police on a regular basis. I know all the stats. The overwhelming percentage of criminal activity is done by the African American third of our population. Almost 100%. We turned our neighborhood around by calling the police, or dept. of license and inspection if anything or anyone looked even a little suspicious. You can call that profilling or stereotyping if you want, who cares, it worked. I Owen a couple homes, I don’t live here because I have to, I live here because I want to. Thank god for the cooperation of the police. I wouldn’t want their job and would have a hard time taking the abuse and ignorance they deal with on a regular basis. In a world of over the top political correctness you have to live it to see it and tell it like it is. Most of the people complaining about police behavior are criminal, drug using selling gangster thugs.
