professor... How can anyone speak to the racial makeup of this board? NOBODY knows it. I said I've seen pics over the years. It's all white guys so I assume the board is mostly white guys but I don't know.
I understand your point. If this board was mostly or all black you feel the viewpoints would be different...and they would. Black and whites see black and white issues very differently EVERYONE knows that. You seem to be trying to make a reinvent the wheel groundbreaking point here about something nobody cares about or is arguing against. You're passionately arguing for something nobody cares about. No one cares how many white or black people are on this site. I've never ever ever thought...Gee, I hope this site has more of "x" race.
What about women? I would assume there are no women on this site but I don't know that. Women see differently than men. Shocker.
You're not backing off what issue specifically? Nobody disagrees blacks have been treated poorly in this country.
A year or so ago I got pulled over for speeding... I was concerned because it was the anniversary weekend of the shooting in Dallas of the 5 officers. I tightly gripped the wheel and my wife commented...what are you worried about...you're white. I didn't like the comment and I also felt it was wrong. Cops would blast ANY race if they felt they weren't complying.
What I've witnessed is there are those types out there who TV is their god and reality. A cop shooting a few african americans doesn't really mean much more than that yet it's spun into all white officers want to kill black people. It's a huge stereotype and white people have done the same when it seems most crimes they see on TV feature black individuals. We ALL are influenced to some degree but some are way way way over the top.
Race issues exist and they would exist if white and black switched roles. "White Man's Burden" was a movie that tried to portray that. PEOPLE are racist. Not white people. ALL people. White people have good reason to feel some of the things they do of blacks and blacks have reason to feel the way they do about whites. It ain't all but it's hard to figure who is and who isn't so there'll be healthy skepticsim of ALL. It's tragic but true.
I'm honest about my feelings. We just had a black family move in where a white family was before. I'm not happy about that. Why? Oh, not because they're black but because it appears to be a single mother who has the foulest of mouths and speaks to her TODDLERS like a drill sergeant would speak to a recruit. It's disgusting. The family is up and making noise OUT IN THE STREET on SCHOOL NIGHTS at 3am. There are 4 kids I believe...all young...all appearently terribly supervised. I hate it. Bad for my resale value and worse for the kids who have to grow up in that environment. Could just as easily be a white family doing that but I don't like it at all. I know this is Texas and there is a lot of racism and bigotry and a family buying my house is less likely to want those neighbors than they would a white family. Not my rules. Just a fact.
