Too many people pretending to know the contents of one's heart here, having never met them, having never shared a beer and bread with them, never having the opportunity to share a round of golf with them.
When addressing someone here on this forum, I assume nothing. I don't assume that they're white, black, or caucasian (unless a pic is posted). And even then - I don't pretend to know their successes in life, their joys, their struggles. Nor do I know their histories. Nor assume I know their biases/prejudices.
What I do know, however, is that I would never automatically assume anyone here as bigots/racists, not knowing them on a personal level. We take a lot of shit that is posted here regarding politics/religion/society much too literally, which happens all the time on social media.
Which is why these type discussions get into name calling and serve little purpose.
No one here, based on many conversations I've observed over the years, would deny that there's a double standard. Yet, no one here, I also feel safe in saying, would want a mother/father to lose a child simply because of their race/ethnicity.
I think we're all good guys here. And if someone thinks otherwise, that their political differences in opinion can't be hashed out - simply ignore each other.
This is a golf message board. It's not a CNN or MSNBC or Fox News message board.
