It's likely he is already thinking about the Ryder Cup and that is affecting his play.
He looks disinterested to me, not tired, and we know how he is when he isn't into it.
LOL
Having said that, I still think he plays once Friday and sits until Sunday, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

I think Phil would have been a better vice captain, and groom him for a future spot as the head guy
RC captain in maybe 2 years.
Give one of the younger and hotter players like Xander a shot at some team play.
It's not like PM has a stellar RC record anyways.

Phil and Jordan going into the RC playing poorly....does not bode well. And Bubba is a flake, and just not sure wattcha gonna get out of Bryson....can't see us getting drubbed, but I def don't see us giving the Euro's a beat down, like many suggest.

The last time the US brought the cup back home from Europe was back in '93 at the Belfry. Anyone who thinks we're not underdogs again this season hasn't paid much attention to history. And that's also including the premise that we've most always had the best team on paper, at home or abroad.

The Euros simply don't give a rip about what the paper says.

If we win it this year, it'll be the first time in 25 years that we've somehow managed to beat them on their own turf. And considering how many times they've beaten us on our own turf since then - our boys better be ready when it comes time to put the tee in the soil on the first hole.

PA-PLAYA I always like your well thought out responses, sometimes I agree, others not so much. In this case you are spot on.....nothing can erase the last 25 years of results on Euro soil.....it's not going to be easy, nor should it. Best believe, the Euro team is gonna bring it!

Not sure that JF was the best pick for Captain, doesn't seem like a warm and fuzzy type the players will rally around.

Too many of our players are on empty, some have run out of game this season. Our hope rests with the young turks, Fineau, Reed, Thomas and the like. I can root for the USA, but I don't expect to win.

Well I hope our guys are just resting up this week getting ready for the Ryder Cup.
Outside of Tiger and Rickie, most of the US squad that is playing this week,
are at or near the bottom of the standings at the Tour Championship.

sdandrea1 I have a bad feeling about this year's Ryder Cup........................I suspect a drumming coming our way.

          Another good call!

He's pulling out all of the stops with trying to do his part to promote the PPV deal with Tiger next month. LOL...
Never mind the fact that the fairways are twice as wide.

            hehe

He'll wish he was playing his opponents shots on Sunday though me thinks.

Phil still has some good rounds left in him, but I'm not sold on him being able to close the deal anymore.

Maybe France is too far east of California. Phil can't function in that hemisphere.

braveheart I still say we have been blessed to watch a man of his talent. No one has provided the thrills and spills with more panache than him.

It is always interesting to see what he's going to try next - especially when he pulls it off. I'll never forget the pine straw shot at Augusta. That highlight never gets old. He's the poster child for "hold my beer and watch this".

Very true. It's not very often that golf fans these days are exposed to players who don't throw clubs, don't curse and use f bombs, or make the time to visit with the fans to sign autographs, or share their true thoughts with the media after the round.

One thing that Phil has most always done, throughout his entire career, is represent his profession in high regards. Very few would say otherwise.

If he never won another tournament, it still wouldn't change how I view his career.
