He won't get suspended. The Tour would then be cutting off their nose to spite their face. He's a big name and puts fannies in the gallery still. He'll get a fine, it will be a trivial amount, Jordan will assure them that he will meet the minimum requirements next season, all will be forgiven (except the trivial fine that won't amount to anything).
But... it's a wakeup call. Or should be. They're giving him an incredible stage, and I'm sure his sponsors won't mind if he competes in another event or two next season to go along with that.
He does have some means of an obligation, not just to his sponsors, but the Tour. So the fine will be levied, whatever it is, and if he's as good a kid as I think he is - he'll comply. Jordan (as well as Thomas, DJ, Rory etc) all need to be reminded from time to time that they've not quite yet fulfilled the requirements to achieve legendary status comparable to that of Phil and Tiger.
But suspension of any meaningful duration? What are we to make of Monahan suspending Spieth for the first three weeks of the upcoming season? It's not a suspension. It's time off. It's time off from when he'd ordinarily not be playing anyway. It would be like Goodell suspending an NFL player for the upcoming bye week.
It would be a "suspension" in name only. And the fine ain't gonna amount to nothing.
But it should be a wakeup call. "Look, kid... we love ya and we want ya, but you gotta do your part here to meet the bare minimum of what you've agreed to."
That's all this will be.
