Well... those who like torturous US Open layouts got their wish, it seems. There were 189 double bogeys or worse on the day.

20 mph wind blowing left to right and these guys are hitting 140 ft high draws, what happened to the knock down shot?

After the first day, I think the remaining guys with the best shot..DJ, Rose. Stenson, Hi Guys, Rickie.
Holly is wearing golf clothes this year. Last year she looked like a ho.

I have to believe DJ has this one from the day one performance. He made some conservative decisions that helped him in some spots and maybe harmed in others, but he looks mentally equipped for the battle and I will argue with anybody who says there is somebody with more physical game than his. That’s a winning combo.

As long as he avoids the big number, he’s golden.

DJ is so laid back, I'm surprised he remembers to breathe. This tough layout is perfect for him. ......you can't even tell if he cares.

Rose missed some makeable putts on Day 1 so I don't think he's done yet.

Can't see Dufner (putting head case) or Henley (nerves?) keeping pace at this point.

Reed seems to finish high in tournaments where the final score is in single digits, but his last two majors are the only ones he’s really done well in. Maybe he has it figured out now. Dustin tuned up well playing in Memphis last week on a course that required similar discipline (but with smoother greens and little wind). I think he has the best shot if the wind doesn’t take over.

DJ's game is almost not fair. I think yesterday he hit driver/SW on a 476-yard par 4. WTH?!?

rsvman I actually did something similar a two weekends ago. 474yd par 4, hit the longest drive my of life @ 358yd, then hit SW from 117 (flag distance.)

So yeah, DJ and I are basically the same person.

And the there was one......DJ only golfer at under par.

No one has ever won the St. Jude, then the U.S. Open the following week.

DJ's managed his game very well, taken his medicine when he's been in trouble, kept bogey his worst score. His length is such an tremendous advantage, but it's only an advantage if his focus and course management are on the same page.

The test will only get tougher over the weekend.

Who knows what the situation might be come Sunday afternoon. Lots of golf left to be played.

Happy to see my wildcard, Fleetwood sitting in 4th. The question becomes, will DJ let anyone back in contention?

azgreg Ouch. One thing for sure is this one won’t be over until the winner finishes it out. Looks like eighteen (and several other holes) hits hard like how this dude got it.

        LMAO
Phil with a regular guy moment.
