Tinker While I don't disagree that having the mass behind the sweet spot is beneficial, ball speed and height are inextricably linked, particularly for the lower SS player.
For any given loft, the launch angle remains the same, regardless of SS. The difference between a high SS and a low SS is that a higher swing speed creates the spin necessary to generate aerodynamic flight. The height and hang time for this player is a factor of spin.
The lower SS player, on the other hand, does not generate the spin necessary for aerodynamic flight. In this case, the ball is basically a ballistic object and distance depends on getting as much height as possible. The height of the ball is determined by ball speed, and the HI-COR will generate the highest ball speed possible for any SS. (If this wasn't the case, why look for a max COR driver or even place a limit on this?)
Now, if we could get a club with the mass behind the CG and a HI-COR, we'd be cookin' with gas. The Dynacraft Muscleback Prophet? But going this way assumes that you will benefit from both of these specs. That is, you have a lower swing speed AND you can hit the ball on the centre of the face most of the time.
