Chinese police patrol the streets in Italy, to protect Chinese tourists .

First of all, the Chinese policeman did not wear side arms in the photos, and they were paired with Italian police personnel, so this might just be a service type instead of really protecting the Chinese citizens.

We had loads of tourists from this country to Europe for decades, never had this kind of service.

Can't say I really want police following me around when I'm in Europe, not that I'm doing anything wrong. It sure would peg yo as a tourist. Although I haven't been to Rome yet. That will change later this year.

When I was a MP in Germany during the mid 80's we had joint patrols with the polizei.

I believe the Chinese police were put on the high crime area targeting Chinese tourists. Expensive hand bags, iphone, high end cameras and of course, lots of cash.

Don't think they'll follow the tourists into a restaurant or a bar or whatever.

It amazed me that this is even allowed by the local law authority. To me, it' s like a slap on the face of the Italian Police for not able to protect a foreign tourist whom came to spend money. High crime rate in certain spots of Europe and Central / South America targeting tourists. It used to be pick pocketing, now just brazing robbery.

Then you'll understand it's a cooperation between the U.S M.P. and the local Police to resolve issues between the U.S. serviceman and the locals.

Were you also buffed from lifting weights and muscle enhancing "protein" ? I used to have friends in the M.P. and they all looked like PopEye the sailor man.

        Certainly.

No muscle heads in my unit. All we did was the mandatory PT in the morning. Nothing else.

Wow, it must have been the new generation of M.P.

Or they had stopped using steroid since the 70's.

            LOL !

You were the good guys. I know the M.P. party hard, the ones I knew certainly were. Felt very safe going out bar hopping with them in New York City, Everyone else tried to avoid us ( excluding me, I'm like the Swee'Pea among the Bluto and Popeye ) when we went from bar to bar.
Can't remember for sure but I swear back then there was no 2 A.M. curfew.

We were on a three week cycle. One week on patrol (like real cops), one week in the field for training, and the third week in maintenance. During maintenance week we followed the same daily schedule. We got off work about 4 and took a nap. Woke up to eat then took another nap. We then went to a couple of bars then closed one at 1:00 AM. Went to another bar and closed it at 3:00 AM. Went back to the barracks for a nap and woke up for morning PT at 5:30 AM. The sergeant always told those of us who went out last night to run in the center column so the outside columns could keep us in line. This took place just about every day.

Shore Patrol for a short time......then they sh*t canned me to a Destroyer for 3 years. I will say this....some Shore Patrol 2nd Class and up should have had some Shore Patrol watching them!

Those good old days, carefree and have the young body to hold up to the abuse we did to it.
I certainly had my share !

                  Bangoman

What did you do to have them canned you to a destroyer ? Not even a supply ship or a mother ship of carrier ?
You must had or had grown a strong stomach for the rough ride .

Steve, I would not be surprised at anything you had done.
                    You are a worldly man.

I guess the Chinese are the "golden child" of this decade with the most cash to throw around the world.
It's not difficult to arrange for their own "police" to assist their citizens at the hottest tourist spots in the world.

I was just surprised that the Italian authority will allow this to happen.
