I always ask this time of year. Has your course aerated the greens recently, and if so when?
My private club sends out course updates, in addition to providing course information via the membership calendar.
I also recognize both the need to aerate and that the effort to maintain business abounds this time of year, especially for public courses.
If you’ve been playing golf for any meaningful length of time, you should know the greens aerification schedule of the course you typically play and at the very least inquire about the conditions of the greens.
While it would obviously be nice if this information is made known by the staff prior to booking a reservation, nevertheless the onus is on the player to confirm.
Just my opinion.
