"Yeah PAPLAYA... You and SMTGolf can have a nice chat about all the expenses incurred by a golf course. But, that's not what the thread was about. Thanks."
It's because some of us are educated enough to see the bigger picture. Some of us pay attention to the statistics of the number of golf courses that have closed over the past decade due to increased overhead and an unwillingness of club golfers to invest in their home clubs.
It's that very mindset why clubs are closing. I was a member at a private club that basically closed because an aging membership didn't feel it important enough to ante up to what amounted to a cheap-ass cup of convenience store coffee per day.
Don't like it, go enjoy the Rich Maidens of the world, just past Kutztown. You won't have to worry about not being informed of aerated greens, because they don't aerate. You won't have to worry about fixing ball marks either, because the thatch in the greens will receive your approach shots like cushiony mattresses. But you will need a full shoulder turn on a 15-footer that (even if you stroke firmly enough) will be lucky to find a hole that was haphazardly cut and leaning sideways by the only guy on their greens staff making 8 bucks an hour.
And despite it being only 5800 yards - you can tee off around 9:00, finish around 2:30 and enjoy the fact that it only cost you $25 to walk.
Of course, the beer is cheap and the hotdogs are a bargain.
If you like 3-week old stale, moldy buns.
