Regripping these irons solved my initial issues. The old grips were too small and even a little warped. Nontheless, I have decided not to keep them for just one reason. They are less forgiving on thin shots, a fairly common miss for me.
In all other respects they are great. In fact they seem better than my Snake Eyes irons for stopping on the greens (grooves generate more spin?) Another plus is the leading edge is very turf friendly (does not dig). In the end, though, I did not appreciate the shots that I expected to be short of the green but safe that did not even make it over the pond. 🙂
Based on my results I think it's interesting that the Ping I3 O size has one of the lowest Maltby playability factors among Ping irons. I know center of gravity is a major component of the MPF, so perhaps clubs with a lower center of gravity are better for me?
Steve, I won't need to tear up my Ping card yet. I just ho'd a set of G15s. 😬
