Nothing to be ashamed of. Thought the Patriots game plan was good. It came down to a huge defensive play by the Eagles defense that ultimately sealed the deal.
And was very impressed with Foles' performance. I know that Pederson and his offensive coaches started adjusting their offensive play calling back at the start of the postseason, with the run-pass option which Foles flourished in back during his epic season with this same team 4 seasons ago. Yet he made some unbelievable throws in tight coverage, threading the needle, very much focused and on top of his game. The O-line did well to give him just enough time to make those perfect throws, and a lot of credit to them.
Although, I do have to ponder exactly why Malcolm Butler wasn't involved. Was it a disciplinary example Bill was trying to set? What happened there with him not being called upon? Butler was in tears prior to the game, which leads me to believe that something was going on besides Belichick's prerogative that he wasn't on the field on defense because they wanted to do everything they could to win.
I said it a few weeks ago... something is going on in NE, and I think it showed last night. Not that Butler might've made a difference... who knows. But something was going on there with Belichick unwilling to call on him on the defensive end. Belichick's ego? Or did Butler do something, or was it a situation health-wise that they chose to not rely on him?
Butler didn't seem happy about the situation afterward. Free agent.
Maybe the Eagles steal another page from the Patriots and sign him in the offseason.
