You could see he didnโ€™t go hard after that, clearly his lack of touch on the greens is starting to show itself again.

Never leave an albatross drive short. Jesus!

I've dreamed about making a big catch in the World Series or Superbowl, and of bowling a 300 game, or a last round knockout in a middle weight title fight. All things that at one time I was at least physically able to do even though I never wanted to do the work to get to those situations. I can't even dream of driving a hole that long no matter how much downhill or downwind. Might as well dream that I'm making a Michael Jordan dunk from the free throw line.

In a men's Open tourney a few years back a youngish lad in the group a couple behind me made an ace on a 358 yard straightaway par 4. It was an incredible feat not just because of the length of the hole ( there was a slight tail wind) but because the green on this hole runs on a diagnal from from left to back right , is severly sloped uphill to a crest 2/3 up then downhill with side slope from there. Pin was in back left corner . He won a healthy 5-6 hundred dollar skin for the feat.

On the same course a few years earlier i came within 18 or so inches ( i think it gets closer each time i tell the story) of an ace on another par 4 , this one only 301 yards but requires you to fly the ball onto the surface as you cant run it up. That eagle netted me a $700 skin. Nit quite the million$ DJ won yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‰

I saw the highlight today, as heโ€™s walking up the fairway, he says โ€œ caught it a little thin, left it shortโ€. He might be my new favorite golfer just based on that Hahahaha.

My SIL once drove a 300yd par 4 that had a slight dog-leg left. It was his first time on that course. We could not see the shot result due to the dog leg, but I knew it was going to be good. We found his ball about 3 inches from the cup for a nice tap-in eagle. That was fun to watch. I told my daughter that if she ever broke up with him, I was keeping him. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The 12th at Kapalua has always been drivable by the longer hitters, depending on the wind. The hole plays about 50-60 yards shorter on a calm day, given the topography of the hole. Add a helping wind and it plays more like 350-360 yards. Which nevertheless is impressive, mind you...

Bubba's shot on his 2nd shot @ 18, with his second shot with driver off the deck from 305 yards, leading to eagle back in 2011 was a wee bit more impressive imo.

Yes, these guys are good. Especially if they have the luxury of a 6-7 shot lead and don't have to fret over a perchance bogey if their aggressiveness is penalized.

I was watching and I think when he picked up his tee he said, "That's good." Ya' think?๐Ÿ˜›

That is one of my fav shots of all time. โ˜บ

        Well,

        Pause (old Jack Benny routine)
I really miss seeing my ball roll into a green on a 440 yd parr 5 second shot and I can't hit my driver off the deck too good...yet...
Distance is the second thing to go with aging.

I hit a drive on #18 today that went 302 yards. The fact that we had a 20 plus mph wind behind us and it hit the cart path may have had a little to do with it also. Longest drive I've ever had on that hole or any other hole for that matter. Not bad for a 90 mph swing speed.

It was 362 yards and I had 60 yards to the middle of the green. Of course I nutted my 60 degree wedge that flew the green and proceeded to get a bogey 5. ๐Ÿ™

They should start playing a soulful violin melody for us when we do this .
Like the one played for calling the monster in "Young Frankenstein".
If so, I'd hear a lot of them .
