Razor knives are sharp , Steve.
Lucky you didn't nick a tendon. I've seen that done.

Compare your Hogans to the"new" Pings???

    Provisional

The Hogans have lighter shafts, wider soles and are forged. They feel "different", but no worse or better. Ball flight is def higher with the PINGs, and I'd say the PINGS are more accurate for me since I love offset. I chip better with the PINGS too. This is all based on me spending way more time with Eye 2 irons than the Hogans, but I had a really good run with the Hogans.

Jury is still out on my MP57 Matrix set. It's great not to have tendon/ joint problems and accuracy is just as good/bad as with DG 300 steel ones. I was suprised that my cut shaft wts were in low 70s since they were listed as 84. Also that frequencies were 275 for Sr flex. I'd say they play like a 5.5 flex. Probably would suit your needs better than mine, but they don't feel too light for me; lead tape on heads made them better too. I think the swing Wts are slightly too low and may adjust them if I find some one with a sw scale nearby . This late juncture in life don't think I'll be aquiring many of my own club building tools. It's my time to be casting away stones, not gathering them.

I bought a set of Matrix Studio 94 iron shafts that were sold as firm flex. I hope to install these in Dynacraft Prophet. I've been to three sites looking for tipping instructions and they all have different guidelines. First question, what tipping instruction did you follow? Second question, since these are sold as firm will soft stepping 1X bring these close to regular flex?

My tipping chart was from supplier, DTG. This was my first reshaft iron effort .
I tipped for Sr flex that I bought, although their frequency indicated more like regular at 275 that is listed on the shafts. I did 5-pw only.
1" for 5 iron, cut additional 0.5" stepwise each iron down to pw which was cut 3.25" . Butt cut to 1/4" over the original Mizzy shaft lengths.

Wish I had soft stepped 1 x. but have no idea how much that'd affect flex. Some builders here like Scott 33 may offer an opinion???
DTG Chart is same tipping for R flex and stiff
        I have Studio 84.

I tipped mine 1.5" for the 7 iron versus the 2.0" they suggest. That should soft step them a bit.
I hit this Maltby DBM 7i w/Matrix 94 and it felt like a standard R-flex to me with the 1.5" tipping.

        Nice high, strong launch. YMMV.

Same shafts I bought. I soft stepped them once off the R flex trim specs. Same as eguller.

i think we're all on the same page.

So far, I like it. No update here - just received a white gift this morning

Okay, thanks for the replies. It looks like 1.5" for the 7 iron and .5" increments is what I'm going with.

Eguller Snooze - you lose. Sold out of Matrix Studio 94's on eBay.

I should have grabbed more - nice shaft.

Well, golf steals and deals apparently lost control of their inventory. I received a notice yesterday that my order (27 Dec) was cancelled and my money has been refunded due to inventory error.

Wondered if y'all have returned to Fla
And if you've tried out the Matrix Eye combo you built.
Inquiring minds want to know. Id expect VA weather might be a little too brisk to be out on the links now, even for the hard core??
We got up to mid 30s today with sun and light NW breeze Not too awful but not quite there yet. If I had an enclosed cart with a heater...

Yes, we got back on 28 DEC, but have had two of our daughters (and their clan) visiting since. I did get 9 holes in a few days ago with the Eye 2s. They work just fine and the weight is awesome. The additional 20g over the last set of graphites I put in these heads is VERY noticeable. A little on the stiff side for this geezer, but so were the steel ZZ LIte shafts. I like them. Ball flight is the same, straight and hi. Probably the best $5 shaft I ever bought. BTW, it's STUPID COLD down here right now by Florida standards. High today was 45. Warmth returns on Sunday.

Thanks for the update on the Eye2/Matrix 94 combo. High and straight sounds about right.
I think that they may 'feel' firmer than they play. You could pull and soft step them one time
to soften them a bit but probably not worth the effort if you like how they perform. For the $5,
they are amazing as a heavier graphite iron shaft. I am awaiting a set of DBM heads for the
remaining Matrix 94 shafts to 'test' this Spring.
