        Bangoman I would suggest many of those I mentioned fall into that category. I'm not much for mainstream stuff. I like niche stuff... doesn't appeal to everyone.

            Pike..........That is what I used to say about Mad River, Quick Silver Messenger Service, Illinois Speed Press, The Illusion and Taste (Rory G.) But, it turns out that some break out with or without the group. But, the player or players that have the talent they will MOST CERTAINLY get noticed. What was considered Cult blazes into Glory!

                  Hayes Karl and Bonnie.........Just terrible. No stage presence in the least. They have played wayyy too many small town bars.......and they perform like it.

                        Aaron Lee Tasjan...I tried to like this guy. Even went so far as to play a few other songs from him.....couldn't get into it. Just another singer/songwriter with a guitar.

                          Bill Nelson and the Gentlemen Rockers..........Soon to be playing at a local Pub near you......and that's about it.

                          Oh Steve, Steve, Steve, you just listened to one of the best guitar players on the planet.
                          Granted he is not a Joe Bonnamassa (yawn) nor a Jonny Lang ;-)
                          He has a catalog of songs and licks they can only dream of.

                          If Bill Nelson is one of the best players on the Planet it must be Pluto or Mars. Absolutely NO Soul in his playing at all!!!

                                  By the way Steve now gives a $50,000 prize each year for banjo. This year's award went to Danny Barnes who used to live in Austin and played with the Bad Livers. Now he's in Oregon or Washington.

                                          This album "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" found its way onto my turntable as often as "Countdown To Ecstasy",
                                          "Who's Next", "Future Games".
                                          Doc Watson (who I was lucky enough to see)..."Tennessee Stud" of the aforementioned album -

                                          Earl Scruggs, who reinvented the banjo - for the uninitiated you'll probably know - The Ballad of Jed Clampett... ;-)
