Anybody here have a Skytrak unit? I bought one late last winter, played with it a few times, then put it away once warmer weather allowed real golf. I brought it back out yesterday. I also purchased the game improvement package for a year. For those who don’t know, Skytrak is a launch monitor/simulator. It reads ball speed, back spin, side spin, launch angle, etc.. It comes with a driving range built in. It costs $2000, but you can pick it up right now for $1700. I’ve taken it to a real range and it pretty damn accurate. According to others testing, its about as accurate as Trackman and Flightscope, but with less bells and whistles, and substantially cheaper. You can buy different simulation packages for an annual fee, but you have to have the game improvement package to start. That package includes target challenges, long drive challenge, and a 9-hole challenge on a World Golf Tour course. You will need high speed Internet, wireless is best. You will need an IPad for the WGT, but can use a pc for the other stuff. A gaming type pc is recommended because of the graphics card. Anyway, I setup the Skytrak yesterday, installed the game improvement package, and wailed away. This thing is a blast. I played the WGT challenge a few times, then realized I had a free month of E6 Golf coming with that game improvement package. E6 is one of the higher end sim packages. I installed it and played a few holes til I wore myself out. I can’t wait to get my shop built behind my house. I plan on installing a 10x10x10 cage so I can hit real golf balls. I’m currently using Qolf balls in the garage because a real ball can do real damage if you mishit one. I highly recommend Skytrak if you’ve got the room for it.

Exactly what size area and ceiling height is needed for this?
Depends on how tall you are, lol. Seriously, you need enough room to take a full swing with the longest club in your bag, which is typically driver for most folks. I use it in my garage currently, which is 10 foot high. I haven’t tried woods yet because of the garage door rails being 9 foot between them and the opener above my head. That and the fact I have an expensive projector mounted on the ceiling. Once I get my shop built, I’ll have a 10x10x10 net and will build a stance platform to facilitate putting for the sim and to mount the projector down low. And I’ll finally get to use real golf balls. I hit so many balls yesterday playing around on it that my hamstrings were sore today. You can really lose track of time with this thing. I was taking target practice at 135 yards and hit the green 29 out of 30 shots, 23 in a row at one point. You can go to YouTube and check out videos of Skytrak and all the sim programs, and they have a website too.
Looks like a nice product but might be an issue fitting in most homes.
The nice thing about it is you don’t need 10-20 feet behind you to read ballflight like some of the higher end models. But yes, you still need room to swing a club and a few feet in front of the mat to the impact screen. I saved money on the impact screen by building my own out of billboard material, probably have $70 in that. I bought a nice mat that holds tees for a little less than $300 shipped. You can get mats much cheaper. I’m probably gonna buy a real feel strip mat ($70) once I get everything built because this thick mat feels a little squishy underfoot, and it can grab your irons a little. But you can really hit down on it with no fear of injury. Projector can be pricey, but I caught a deal on mine at $500. You want high lumens for better clarity. Sometimes I go out to the garage to watch NASCAR or golf. It’s pretty cool watching it on a 9’x7’ screen. and of course you need a PC with a high end graphics card so you don’t have glitches or odd pixelation in your simulations. Again, I caught a deal on last years model Asus at Best Buy for $700. I did a bunch of reading up on launch monitors and simulation programs at www.golfsimulatorforum.com before I started buying stuff. It took me awhile to put it all together because money doesn’t grow on trees here. That, and I’m a golf ho, lol.
How many Qolf balls do you have, I'll buy all that you have

At least 50. I’ll let ya know when I’m done with em. It’s slow going on the shop due to unexpected little emergencies popping up. Had to dip into my shop fund for a new riding mower and bagger, and a new boob tube. When I ain’t playin golf I’m watching it.....
