What, no moonshine lovers here? I tried some good ole Eastern Ky moonshine about 40 years ago and slept under the kitchen table that night. Haven't tried it since but I see a lot of "craft" moonshine made from small distilleries these days. Apple Pie shine is supposedly wonderful.

I did. I just didn't know Old Smokey Hunch Punch was moonshine. Sounds more like something from the movie Deliverance.

Not much of a bourbon guy, going back to a really, really bad weekend back in my senior high school days, that I won't go into for obvious reasons...

But I have tried Woodford Reserve and I must admit that it almost made me completely forget about that night many years ago.

I live a few miles from the Woodford Reserve Distillery. A funny story I have about WR. A fellow boater at our marina was about to retire. That weekend across the river at a casino boat a WR rep was buying rounds. My bud, being a bourbon drinker liked it. We asked him what he would like for a retirement gift and he jokingly said a bottle of WR would be nice. This guy was always playing jokes on others so we had one for him. My wife and I were at a local restaurant and we noticed our friend the bartender bringing out a new in the box bottle of WR. She gave us the old bottle, cork and box and carefully peeled off the seal. I went to the drug store and compared a bottle of WR to others to get the right color. I found a cheap bourbon that matched and we filled up the old WR bottle and carefully glued the seal back on. We presented it to him for retirement. He would drink his usual Early Times in the afternoon but switch to his precious WR in the evening bragging often how good it was. He sipped on this several months until it was about gone. Only then did I show him the bottle of what he was really drinking. He didn't believe me so he bought another bottle of WR. Only then tasting them sided by side could he tell. We chuckled all summer watching him nurse that WR. 😛

Also a Southern Comfort fan when I'm in the mood for sweet. Seems everyone has a high school Southern Comfort story too. I wasn't rich enough back then to have a WR story!!

Larryd3 heard a lot of good things about cigar City....nice that it's local!

ode Cigar City brewery is really a great place. The tour is interesting and best part is every time you turn around, they are giving out samples of their various beers. Had a great time, went with some friends and my wife, who doesn't drink,, so I got hers also.

SVonhof local ale.house has a great guest beer tap list and they had Langunitas High Westified Imperial Coffee Stout, aged in whisky barrels....so good!
