DC300 Yep. You could probably attribute the lack of viewer interest to a lot of things - maybe men watch more TV in general, I suspect they definitely watch more sports. Men at large probably don't like to watch women be better than them at something. The men who have watched the PGA for years don't necessarily have a hole in their lives that the LPGA fills.

The LPGA being dominated by Asian players probably has a lot to do with it in the USA as well.

Whatever the reason, the interest that drives ad sponsors just isn't there. Is a great product that no one wants to buy a great product?

I watch more LPGA than I do the PGA. I like it a lot better. I'm sure I'm in the minority, though.

ZWExton to be honest, it’s just not fun to watch technicians, they are great, but show me a 360 yard draw, over the trees, where 70 other have failed and then stick it for a 6 foot eagle putt vs 270 in the fairway, next to the other person, both come in and are ~15 feet or less and take good run at the bird.. sorry, not that fun.

Conditions for both brutal, but honestly, women’s golf is boring to me. Men’s is fun for the competition and the crazy shit they pull off. LPGA might as well be watching a training on the golf network with no actual instructors

DC300 In your last bit maybe you captured what I like about the LPGA. What could be better than instruction without ask the mindless blather? Watching In-Gee Chun's golf swing is more likely to improve your game than watching an instruction show, IMO.

DC300 - I see what you mean but I would NOT refer to them as technicians. I gain a lot from observing how the women on the LPGA dissect and manage our games. Your "show me a ...where 70 others have failed" is the attitude that cost Michelson tournaments including at couple of majors.

So how do I justify taking a low percentage golf shot when I'm out playing? I declare to my partners that I'm on vacation today and YOLO (you only live once). 😁

If my competitive round is in the toilet by the closing holes, I love to just go for everything and see what happens. Sometimes it adds a little fun to a bad round.

You guys must be really good at golf. OTOH, I must be some hack that can only score in the 70s(6100 yds.) with just my regular game. I've never been able to "go for it" nor do I have, or ever tried, a "low percentage shot". My guess is because my every swing is one or the other!😆
I hold nothing back on course. Ever. BUT, there are no 'stupid' shots; I don't bag the clubs for them. Nor do I have the proper swing for such antics.

That's why the PGA is merely entertainment for me. And it can be quite amusing, at times, what with some of the idiot shots taken. I get nothing from them for my game.

DC300 Golf has a small enough following as it is, that’s with the Mega stars on the PGA

Perhaps these guys are the problem with dwindling recreational play. We know there must be a helluva a lot of players out there trying to emulate those players and their shots. Few, if any, may be able to.
If you cannot succeed, quit.....which would follow their rationale of being able to play like the Pros**! If they would watch the ladies, they'd find games more similar to what they might be capable of doing and enjoy the game enough to stick around.

**These could well be the players with the wrong equipment in the bag also.....all playing XS shafts in their blades, using ProV1, Cameron putters, etc........🤔

Par4QC I have to venture that the pros are about the only reason golf still gets picked up at all as a recreation. It’s expensive, time consuming, frustrating and a generally perceived boring sport. Not exactly the path to major success amongst my generation and younger.

I like watching the elite players of the world and seeing what they do, you have to separate yourself from that, you aren’t a pro and don’t have half the talent these guys have. I haven’t stopped playing basketball because I can’t throw down a dunk from the foul line, shoot 90% for free throws or average a triple double, keep perspective and it’s fine.

I'm on board with most every point in your post save for one. I don't believe playing Pro VI's hurts my lackluster game - no ill effects (and, I procure mine for free.)

Par4QC I hold nothing back on course. Ever.

You try to drive every par 4 and reach every par 5 in two?

puttnfool Not understanding what makes you comment on things you do not comprehend. Happens quite frequently on this forum, I might add!

Par4QC PGA Tour = men playing a game of which I'm not familiar. LPGA = women playing a game I dream about. The latter is a better view for how I might be - in my dreams. The former is entertainment - like the NFL as it's been quite some time since I ran a 4.4 40 yard dash. LOL

Par4QC I'm not understanding why you're talking out your ass. Nobody, I repeat, nobody "goes for it" every shot.

puttnfool You need to quit reading my posts!

                      #1...you cannot comprehend my writings.
                      #2....you are a dumbass.
#3.....you are a damn liar....as witnessed by this statement......................

puttnfool Nobody, I repeat, nobody "goes for it" every shot.

I already posted that I do. Every shot. You cannot fathom as to why. Worse yet, you cannot fathom as to WHY NOT!

Par4QC So, tell us, oh great golf god. 518 yard, Par 5. What club do you pull to try to hole out from 518 yards away?

puttnfool Ok. Let's play this little game of yours so that all here can see your stupidity. BTW....as a former championship chess player, I will tell you in advance that your next move will be an auto checkmate.

puttnfool What club do you pull to try to hole out from 518 yards away?

                          My answer is my driver.

                          And I'll give you all the help I can......I use a 46 1/2", 7.5 * SMT Indio, with DTG $9 shaft, R/Flex.
                          I'm 65 yrs. old, 5'6", 160#. Right-handed.

AND.....you're off on the yardage. It's a 551 yd. Par 5 hole. Just to be clear.

                          Your move.
