  • Any one tried the Volvik Vivid Golf Ball?

Spuzz They don't spin much is the issue, otherwise decent ball, imo.

Plus 1 - Our greens were very hard most of the summer and I like how the Vivids feel but I had to factor in rollout on the greens, not my usual one hop and stop.

I bought two dozen of them for visibility in the fall leaves. I thought that they didn't go as far off the club as a Callaway Chrome Soft but felt similar off of an iron. My main complaint was like you and Ringoblack said, they felt like mush off of my putter and I continuously left putts short. I believe I'll try the Wilson Duo Soft Optix balls for next fall. They look to be very bright colors also and although I've never played one, those who have played the white ones them seem to like them.

mulegolf Was this the regular vivid or the XT? XT is supposed to be higher compression, may resolve the mushy issue.

Wilson is coming out with a very low compression ball this month which will have colors very close to the Volvik for the "average" player in the $19.99 price range.

I gave them a try and didn't like the "feel" off the irons and I thought the distance off the tee resulted in a loss of about 5-10 yards. I'm glad I only had one sleeve.

I thought that the vivid color would help find ones that were trying to hide. Not for me. I can see the white balls best I've have found , but when the deep brumuda rough eats one forgetaboutit!. They are also uncanny in hiding under the smallest leaf. Our leaf fall is delayed for Indian Summer here. 85* + today. Thankfully .
I saw my ball disappear into rough on 11 on a pitiful drive today went straight to it and still took several minutes to locate but found three others in process. Found mine, went back to get club & had to search some to locate it again! Doubt I'll fool around with any more Volvic or other colors but whites.

Provisional but when the deep brumuda rough eats one forgetaboutit!.

I hate that. We used to play a course that let the bermuda rough get high before a Hooters Tour tourney. You had to step on your ball to find it. It was a guaranteed a 5 hour plus round. Our group plays "leaf rule" in the fall. If a hazard or OB is nowhere near take a leaf rule free drop and move on.

mikeintopeka I felt the same way. I liked them OK; the colors were great. But I felt a slight performance loss with these balls.

I like Wilson Duos, Nike Mojos, TM Project As, TM Burners. I used to use the older Volvik balls (pretty sure they called it the Volvik Crystal, where it almost looked liked the cover was clear and the color was beneath) and I liked them just fine.

I played some Mojos and the Vivid side by side last summer and for me the Vivid flew much farther.

I found it to be fairly long especially with irons. Spin off wedges..average. I suppose for $30 it's a decent ball.

Rickochet For me it was the opposite, although I never really played them side by side.

Just got the latest Golf magazine and saw that Wilson is coming out with the Staff DUO balls in matte colored balls.

For those who like the Wilson, and not the Vovik's...

I do like the Wilson, so this is good news for me.

The matte finish is not what I like best about the Volviks. It is how bright the colors are. You can tell the diff between a Volvik Vivid and another ball from hundreds of yards away.

The picture of the Wilsons showed pretty bright colors as well. Somebody on here will have to find some comparison pictures of the Volvik's and the Wilsons to get a comparison.
Volvik also has some other balls that are gloss finish like most others, but are VERY bright. My wife pulled one out the other day and said that it almost hurt her eyes in the sunlight. Of course, she then proceeded to put it in the middle of the pond in front of the tee box...
