We're just north of Tampa in New Port Richey. The latest 5:00 AM advisory had the Euro model (most accurate) showing the eye of the storm going right over Tampa late Sunday into Monday. We've been thru a few hurricanes, but never one as strong as this one.
Assuming we survive this, we're not looking forward to possibly being without power for several weeks. We're not in an evacuation zone so storm surge is not a concern. I bought several bags of pool salt and will use that along with sheets of plastic instead of sand bags to guard against low level flooding.
We do not have hurricane shutters so the windows are a concern. Our laundry room is the safest room and will ride out the storm in there when the brunt of the storm goes thru.
On a side note, I played golf yesterday and shot a nice little 76 (38-38) with 3 birdies. Not sure when I'll get to play again. Our three indoor cats will ride it out with us, but we're concerned with the little female stray (Mina) we take care of. Hopefully she finds a safe hideout to ride out the storm.
