Yo!
Something standard weight, dgs/r/x300, px5.5 (non flighted), KBS tour....imo not having a standard weight option rules out a sh1tload of golfers....I doubt I'll order, but it might be a Xmas idea!
I think the ugliness wears off fast. I have the PM grind Callaway wedges and yes they are ugly but I'm not thinking that when I'm playing. If you hit a few good ones with the OMG, you'll be fine. Even ugly women give good BJ's.
ode For those options I would suggest either Teestar golf or chuck's custom clubs. They will have a larger selection of shafts and they both carry TILLe
This is all you need.
Well, here goes:
Played 36 holes with Spuzz and had the Tille's in the bag.
I am not a great wedge player but am a good chipper.
Looks:
I think they look awesome. The colouring is almost a satin aluminum if that is possible. It is not chrome nor is it satin. Thin-ish Topline which I like. They look like they haven't been used so the durability is good.
Performance:
Off a tight fairway I have trouble with wedges since I am a sweeper and these seem to be better than my Ray Cooks and Eidolons. The course we were on was mowed very tight. Where they excel for me is in the rough. They cut through it better than any wedge I have tried. When they are opened up they sit nicely.
The ball spins a lot. The grooves are sharp and the micro grooves add to the spin. I did actually back one up with my 52 from 90 yards out. I have hardly ever done that before.
Chipping is easier since I forward press them and this takes the bounce out , and they have a sharp leading edge.
The ball stops very quickly. I was able to vary the distance quite easily.
Overall:
I like these things. They are different and they work well. When I get out on the weekend I will use them on my home course and let you know how they do.
Interesting name.......
thanks for the review. I saw these for the first time (on the web) the other day. they look very intriguing.
candukid Awesome review! Thank you very much. I shared it with steve and he was very excited that they performed well for you.
UPDATE:
Took the wedges out to my home course. Fairways there are not nearly as tight.
Parked at the 90 yd marker and hit 4 SoLo's (I know crap ball) with the 52
All of them bounced once and stopped. even backed one up a foot.
56 from about 80 yds and the same thing.
Now remember, I am a sweeper and if I take a divot, I did something wrong. (working on that but that is another story). These wedges WORK for me. I'm not just saying that. If I can stop it without utilizing descending blow, then look out for people who can. This wedge will have you backing them up a lot.
Chipping with the 52 is clean and crisp and I can usually get it within 5 feet. Control is fantastic. I grouped 4 balls within 10 feet chipping uphill over a high side wall to the green.
I will be playing around with shafts this fall. I think I want them softer and maybe a bit lighter.
They came out at E1 on the swingweight scale. Yikes!!!
Almo has a winner here if he can get the word out.
Did I say I LOVE the look and finish of these things????
