Does anyone only carry a pitching wedge and a sand wedge (that is only used in the sand)? If I use anything other than my PW nothing good comes from it. My P...

Sparky One would not be getting the full effect of the shaft profile stiff tip and spin that the shaft performs best with an early release. Will it work...yes but not to the optimum performance. If one does not have great wedge skills and using a urethane ball it's mute point in any case but that is where the lol was meant for. It's not meant as a dig in your case. I only was describing it from a fitting perspective.

Manufacturers always market clubs to what PGA pros use that's why off the rack major brand wedges have TT DG S300's in them whether you need one or not. 🙂

I use to use my pw exclusively, unless I was shortsided or had to go over something. SW was only for sand and if I needed a high lob. I've since thrown in a gap and lob wedge and use the "clock" swing to know how far I'll hit each. It's been working pretty well for me. But a vast majority of people I see can't use one wedge let alone 3 or 4.

As I have lost distance my yardage gaps have gotten smaller.
Seriously considering PW / 45 or 44, GW / 54 and 60 / LW. My LW is never used from the fairway, only chips and sand shots.

I do believe the fewer wedges, through practice, one obtains enhanced feel, touch, and versatility.

I really like the idea of your lofts. Many times though, unless you bend a gap wedge to weaken or a sand wedge to strengthen, you cannot do it since the companies don't offer 54. If you bend a wedge 2 degrees, you need to think about the bounce and how that is now affected.

Components? I have a Wishon bent to 54 from 56. Yes, bounce is a serious consideration and why I chose the 56 bent to 54 vs bending a 52 to 54. The 56 option left me with more bounce.

I do have a SCOR that was manufactured to 54*.

The lofts on my irons are so strong I'm almost forced to carry five wedges.
PW is 46, 130 yds, 80 yd pitch
GW is 50, 120 yds, 70 yd pitch
SW is 54, 105 yds, 60 yd pitch
LW is 58 , 85 yds , around the green, and 50 yd pitch
LW2 is 64, bunkers and around the green

Technically I carry 4 wedges but I treat my PW and GW more like extra irons than I do wedges as they match my irons. I'll use the PW and GW for pitches or bump and run chips but for the most part most of my greenside shots are done with my 56 or 60 depending on how quickly I need the ball to stop. Back when I was in high school I only had a 48 PW and a 60 lob wedge. I was able to become really versatile with both clubs and now I'm not nearly as versatile with any of my wedges. Most of that is probably because when I was on the golf team I played every day but I think a part of it was because only having 2 wedges there was a need to become as versatile as possible with them.

Diamond Tour has several wedge options offered in 54 degrees. I think GolfWorks may have a couple and Hireko still has the Acer XB in a satin finish that you can get in 54 degrees. Hireko used to offer the Acer XB line in a handful of finishes in basically all the degrees you could want but they seem to have phased out a lot of them. Hopefully it's to make room for a successor to the Acer XB wedges.

Even more important than bounce when bending irons is offset. If you weaken the loft you lose offset. If you strengthen the loft you gain offset. It's for this reason that I'd almost always opt to bend the lofts weaker on irons and wedges.
