  • Looking for a good 80 gram graphite iron shaft that is reasonably priced.

All great suggestions guys......thanks!

HybridWood

I'd be more interested if they were all the same flex. I'm ordering in mid May, so, maybe....but not now. Thanks!

Weirfan SK fiber TT80

Those are EXCELLENT shafts and could be bought for <$15/ea when they were being cleared out after they stopped making them, but unfortunately they're long gone by now. There is a newer model (TT75) but they're on the pricier side at $30/ea, and at that price I'd say go with the XCaliber Tour X.

sdandrea1 Found them, but I don't think they are what you are looking for. They are Penley IMS, 6.5 flex, 105 grams. I've read that they are a very good shaft, but that's a pretty stout and heavier than what you are looking for.

Hey Steve.,,,I have a set of Kuro Kage 80 in R-flex that I may not be using. LMK and
      we can discuss.

Hireko's Powerflex line looks good to this cheap bastage. They have a filament wound shaft that weighs 100g in R/S for $7. Might give those a go.

Steve, I have used the Powerflex irons shafts, both models. I haven't used them years. Perhaps QC has improved since I used them. The Powerflex 501 is a crap shoot regarding flex, spine and weight. Out of a dozen shafts at least two would be totally out of specs. I had a local dealer and would return the "outers." And in general they played a bit on the stiff side. Unless you have the equipment to weigh, spine align and flex match I would pass on those. The Powerflex 114 is a total dud. I was told by Jeff Summit that it has a 25% fiberglass content.

One shaft I tried and liked is the iDrive. A bit lighter than you are looking for at 70g but the set I built was very close in weight and flex, and inexpensive at $9.99 from VG.

Thanks Rick. I might just pull the heads from the Penleys and use them. The KuroKage and Apollos sound good too,

I picked up a couple Matrix Kujo shafts from DTG, $15 each, quality is impressive, I went with the 95 in X flex so our results aren't something to compare, but I can't imagine they would be bad.

I've got some from Wezsty golf when he was clearing out his stuff on eBay.....I think they are Stiff flex though.....I remember the weight being roughly 80-85g....if that interests you at all lmk....I can dig em up and.inspect some more

You could try these Fujis made for TM from EBay. I remember reading some good things about them. They have S flex 3-8 iron, maybe you could soft step them??

I just assembled the Dynacraft Prophet Tours I got from Vaughn, using Apollo Acculite 75 steel shafts. Gonna see how an 80g steel shaft feels/plays in comparison to an 80g graphite. ProSoft inserts in the Apollis.
