Back un the day there were countless situations where molds were stolen or copied out ofbthe Asian foundries and counterfeits produces.
The assembly videos we see on tv with white people in white lab coats in ultra modern high tech facilities is all just BS.
Have seen many photos of foundries used which were like a back corner, machine shop .
i imagine and hope that things have changed and surely the big OEM's must be much more detailed in their security at these sites, but they still are all employed by low skill, slave labour types and so if there is an opportunity gotta think its being eyeballed
