azgreg Hammer was a weird name, but then again d2 wasn't much of one either. But I liked that line d2 feel and hammer control, original gamer and then gamer soft. Seems like with success of Maxfli Tour the little guys are getting the shaft!

Today I played the Callaway Superfast. Really nice all-around ball that seemed to have some spin on all shots. May have more off the tee as high as it went at times. 2 pc. ball but a weird hybrid cover that feels sticky out of the box. Bounces like crazy, but straight bounces. Had 5-6 PB drives on certain holes today that dropped my jaw a couple times😄. Putts really nice also, good feel off face and runs true. iirc, around 70-75 compression. Nice feel on all shots, all clubs. No scruffing and did hit a tree 1 time.(couldn't help myself)
$30, but they are a 15 ball box.

Played 18 with the Zero Friction Spectras yesterday. My impressions: Distance - about average for me with both the driver and irons. Launch - seems to launch higher than most balls. Spin - fairly typical for two-piece balls. When I hit the green in regulation with a short iron it would stop about 10 - 20 feet past impact point and I didn't have any well struck full shots bound off the back of the green. Green side spin - again pretty typical for a two-piece. The ball popped up high on normal chips and pitches, but nothing approaching drop and stop. Runout needs to be calculated into the shot. Hit a couple of really good chips from the short side and ended up 10 and 15 feet past the hole. Putting - my hands of stone can't feel a difference between balls when putting. Feel - ball kind of has a crunchy compression to it that made me feel like I was crushing it even though the distances didn't bear that out. Loved the feel. Overall - if I can continue to get a good price on them I will continue them as my regular ball. Probably means they'll cease production soon or "improve" it to something I don't like.

johnnydoom Those spectra balls are kind of unique. I was playing one last week and had about a 15 yard bunker shot on a narrow green. The bunker was hard packed and had sparse vegetation coming up through so I decided to pick the ball. There was literally no run out at all with it. I don't think I could have gotten better results with a multi layered ball.

I should grab a few 2 piece balls just to see if they go any further off the tee. In the shop we have Noodles and Srixon Marathons. Don’t know how many piece. I should take out some Pinnacle Rush balls

They might go further, but maybe not in the direction you want. It is to be expected with 2 pc. or softer balls, and a higher swingspeed.

Par4QC I remember the Rush flying far off of irons but same as anything else off driver. I’ll have to try it again

The Wilson Staff 50 is still the best 2 piece ball I have ever played. It doesn’t spin in the short game like a high end urethane but it is better than most would think and very predicable. I like it much better than the Duosoft

Surfing through Prime Day deals, I was reminded about the Taylormade RBZ. I played these for a few seasons and thought they played very similar to the Srixon Soft Feel. They are a 60 compression ball. I will probably order the 36 ball deal they have for $42.50.

scotts33 I bought a dozen. I'd say that review sums it up pretty good. It looks like a cheap shitty ball out of the box. It performs fine on most shots. Pretty good on full, partial, and chips/pitches .... for a 2 piece. I had no problem on full iron shots getting it to stop - nice. Driver it was mostly solid but into the wind it spins a smidge too much for my liking. That being said I am a low ball hitter historically steep/ish and know what to do/manage that. Swing easy and accept the result. One of the balls got significantly beat up by the grooves.....not sure which club but I suspect my SW did this, the cover was cut badly. No other club effected the cover, pretty much mark free. I will monitor this to see which club was the culprit. Feel, it was not mushy nor firm, but a decent feel for me, I'd suspect 70's compression. Not quite Pinnacle Gold but not too far off. The feel off the putter was a plasticy thud. Not the best but it was no deal breaker. Overall I liked this ball. It's only 18 holes but the only performance piece I didn't like was in to the wind.drives. all else was solid or better. Can we make this the official Buzz 2 pc ball🙃

azgreg revisiting this as I see the Gamer has the same cover as the Hammer and in the reviews on the DSG website indicate it is a 2 pc. ball and a pic of one cut open and indeed is 2 pc. 🤔.....might be worth a try as a Hammer Control / D2 Feel replacement / or maybe it is the same / similar ball!

I went ahead and ordered some of the Gamers at 2 for 20 as a fall / spring ball option. Other than the sidestamp/alignment aide ....the cover looks the same as the older D2 and Hammer with dimple/dimple design. Hit a few on course today and they felt/performed good!
