My youngest son played Oakmont in 2007 a few weeks before the Open. The owner of our local pasture field course is a member. My son worked at the course for 8 years while in high school and college. Him and 2 co workers were very good golfers. The owner promised them for years that he would take them to Oakmont. The last year my son would be working there he approached the owner and asked if he was going to take them there or had he been lying all those years. He ended up taking them and paid for everything. Can't remember what he shot but was very good. Course was being prepared for the Open.
Edit: Text sent to him and he just got back to me, shot an 81 with 3 birdies. He has the complete game then and now.
Edit to include how much having your own Oakmont caddie that guides you the whole round. Where to hit according to your skill, and lines you up for putts, by giving you the correct line.
