The Wilderness at Fortune Bay is another great course in NE Minnesota.

Weirfan looking forward to the review of Lawsonia Links my personal favorite!.....as well as Lido and Sedge Valley.....those were constructed well after my playing of SV, MD, and Sandbox the first full year they were open. I *might try and get to EH this year but only as a spectator for the Women's US Open!

If going the MN route, Troy Burne looks fantastic and have heard good things. Have been on site but was not able to play do to other obligations. Pecked around and it indeed looks like a fun track. I also heard good things about White Eagle...both in Hudson. I'm sure there would be some decent site seeing in the area.

Those look like two good options $105 and $72 senior rates are in my budget.

Weirfan Yea, that's all out of my price range. By myself, no problem but with two of us it adds up quick. Pretty much won't go over $100.

An FYI courses like Sand Valley and Erin Hills are walking ONLY caddies are available and If going I would take one.

No idea yet. Golf is almost secondary. We'll look for outdoorsy locations. Like in upper MI where we spent time searching out waterfalls. That was really cool. Then we'll find places to golf around that. I saw a bunch of waterfalls between GB and Eau Claire in WI so that would be a likely area. In MN not sure yet.

garyt1957 not a ton of great golf on that corridor, off the top of the noggin, Brown Co. in GB (depending on time of year and tee time can be a slog); Clintonville - Riverside, some quirk and charm on the front and more of a modern/newer back 9; Glacial Wood in Iola - one of my favorite courses, two holes on the clubhouse side of the road and 16 across and through the forrest - beautiful; Bass Lake in Deerbrook (just north of Antigo) - front 9 is good, back 9 very good and some memorable holes; Wild Ridge in EC, solid and in line with the others as far as level....been a long time since I've played it. All the above will have a nice amounts of rolling terrain and elevation changed mixed in. In order from East to West.

I logged in Douglas Co. and Bayfield Co. lots of nice scenery south of Lake Superior. Brule River only river in Cheeseland that flows north into Lake Superior. Apostle Islands. https://www.nps.gov/apis/index.htm

There are some nice waterfalls in NE Minnesota near Lake Superior. Goosberry Falls is along a major highway going north of Duluth. In that same area is Cascade Falls and if you want to take a side trip into Canada try Kakabeka Falls which is a
bit west of Thunder Bay. It's supposed to be the largest Falls west of Niagara Falls. I've been to all of these and they are very worthwhile visits. Also in the Thunder Bay area is a remake of an early fur trading post where they all dress in period costumes and talk like the early settlers did. It's very interesting. When one of the people there asked where I was from and I told him Minnesota he said "Ah, one of the rebel colonies."

+1 on BF....an early Dye design that is playable. You get a bit of the design elements that you would see at the two Kohler courses at Blackwolf Run....but not as crazy. Once you get into the forrest on the back 9 it gets a bit more tricky but those holes I found quite fun!

garyt1957 BTW depending when you are going there (first 2 weeks in August) and if into other non-golf stuff there are The Tamburitzans from Duquense Univ, in Lake Nebagamon headwaters of the Brule River. Read up on them $20 ticket good entertainment. https://www.superiortelegram.com/lifestyle/arts-and-entertainment/tradition-takes-stage-at-lake-nebagamons-historic-auditorium They have a summer camp on Lake Nebagamon. Bridge's Bar in Lake Nebagamon isn't a bad watering hole typical No. WI bar good pizza. Reasonable prices. Don't mention my name you'll probably get kicked out of there. ☺

Oh and if you like dive bars I recommend the Plywood Palace aptly named. lol
