Typhoon Through the years I have read many articles on this subject. As a slower swinger looking for more distance, why would I not be researching?
The gist of all of those articles read is the same. Slower swings need a firmer cover, faster swings, softer cover. It has proven true for me through the years. Best ball for me is a ball with +/- 75 compression. It does not matter if that is a 2-3-4-5 pc. ball, but typically it will be a 2 pc.. (even though I do still love trying new/different balls)
Slow swings cannot compress the core of those 3-4-5 pc. balls, so they are of no value and a waste of money. If you cannot compress with the fastest swing (driver) imagine how poorly that ball reacts when hit with an iron of FW club.
Most golfers have no use for spin....they do not know how to apply it nor even use it. They do not hit the ball properly.
And this forum is the best place to read about subjects like the OP. No egos, no talk of spin or 300 yd. drives. Just plain simple golf play, by amateurs looking for fun/good times. AND.....knowing their limits on the course(s). šGolfBuzz!
And John, if I wrote an article about golf balls, and placed it on the internet where you read it, would you take it as gospelš¤?? I do have over 50 years experience.
